HEAD-GASKET-PROBLEM

Guest
May i just firts of all say that this with the fiat forum, are the best ever sources of finding out fiat related problems.....Keep up the good work.

I have a fiat bravo 1.2 16v

Ok back to my problem, first of all i think my head gasket is going/gone, second of all i'm quite certain i have air lock in my system, i thought i had it done at a garag, but it has come back.

Facts about faults mentioned above..........
I do have a mayo style build up under oil cap
Their is traces of oil left on my drive
Inside the engine compartment near the bottom is moist with either water or oil
A lot of white smoke is expelled from exhaust
air vents blow out cold air
my thermostat as gone near to the red mark on one occasion

Biggest fact i'm disheratened by the fact that is happening to me and the overall cost its going to leave me with. Could anyone reasure me in any shape or form............please

yes mate...your fcuked !!! lol
seems like an expensive trip to garage 4 you

ade

Mayo in the oil filler cap is not a sign of HG failure, a whole sump full of mayo is however a bad sign. White smoke from the exhaust is also not a sign of HG failure, its cold outside and the car will naturally produce a lot of water vapor.

If the heater is not warming up then you've certainly got an airlock. Bleed the cooling system and give it another go.

The best and most accurate ways to check HG failure are:
* exhaust gas in the cooling system
* Compression pressure test
* leakdown test
* Cooling system pressure test

yeah i got feelings you kno, i really do still love my bravo, i want to fix it but not too sure about my pocket lining, bloody hell i'm really quite pissed off, bloomin bravo,

about bleeding the car, i have no idea what you mean(laymans term please)

they mayo is quite a lot, i think, its all on the underside of the oil cap, about a large spoonful,

is it fukked fukked as i can still drive it, just worried about the amount of smoke, i feel i need to rule out condensation. its cold but not cold cold.

Get it to a garage and get it checked, if it is the HG then driving it will cause damage to the engine. Equally overheating due to an airlock will do just as much damage.
