Please help

I have a fiat sport it's 10 years old and was driving along and steam was coming from under the bonnet so I had a look and it was the radiator so I opened it up and all the water came spewing out! I filled it back up and turned the car on and after 5 mins it did the same again! The temp gauge is not saying over heating but something is wrong any ideas?

It's a 1.6 I think and it's got a full service history! I would be grateful for any help!

Definitely not a 1.6, unless it's older than 10 years! Will be either 1.2 8v, 1.2 16v, 1.8 HGT, or 1.9 diesel (unless I've missed something!).

Personal thoughts are either broken water pump (which should've been done with the last timing belt change), stuck thermostat, blocked radiator but it all depends on what engine you've got. Do you have any 'mayo' like substance under the oil filler cap?

It's a 1.8! There's isn't any mayo like substance just the steam coming from radiator there's nothing else wrong with it!

Well its overheated now
the damage is done.......

10 years - could be HG has broken down with age and is now leaking

But suspect Water pump failed? When was it changed? Service history needs checking
Why i say that - the water pump allows air in and mixes it - hence the extra huge splurge as the hot air is escaping and expanding with the water, but easily could be a stuck thermostat physically boiling the water under pressure

I'd be removing and testing the Thermostat first

But you need to find out why its overheating, is the temperature guage actually working?
Is the cooling fan activating?
