Hi.. to everyone looking
I have just recently had new Alloys(Inovit Manic's), Tyres(Federals) and Pads (delphi) fitted all round on my Stilo 1.9 JTD...
and I do understand new pads take time to "bed in" but I am getting a grinding noise still after driven 700 miles is this normal or not..? also there seems to be a considerable lot of tyre noise (I hope it is tyre noise) or can any of the above result in the new alloys .. I remember seeing a thread somewhere about the length of bolts used (I think)...
Anyway .. any info or advice will be well recieved..
Many thanx

What were your original sized wheels and tyres. 17'' wheels and
tyres transfer a lot more road noise through the car than 15'' wheels
and tyres.

Also when you brake more noise is transfered. If the new pads
that were fitted are slightly larger than the originalsthere may be
a rust rim on the disks which are now catching. If they are original
Delphi pads they should be Reg 90 so equivalent to OEM pads.
They may however of been made in UK, Eastern Europe, Egypt
or India. Most Uk pads are made by the 3 main manufacturers,
EFI owned by EBC, TMD, or Roulands.

I replaced the disc & pads on my JTD a while ago and went onto Delphi/TRW pads and disc and can honestly say no drama nor issues, despite hauling a CI Sprite tow bar accessory :D

As sixpotman comments, Delphi are OEM Quality, probably just your pads bedding in with your existing discs... :)

Hi All.
Couple of thoughts here,
Check the tyres are not touching the suspension leg when the car is on the ground.
Try jacking up the front and spinning the wheels by hand, is it possible that the back cover plate has been bent and is touching the disc making the tyre type noise you describe.
I would also take the wheels off and look for any signs of them or the bolts rubbing it should be quite obvious if they are.
Lastly I would take the pads out and have a look at the discs are they lipped around the outer edge (are the discs worn).
The quick fix if the discs are slightly lipped is to shave a little off the top and bottom edge of the pad with an angle grinder so that the side of the pad doesn’t catch the lip (that is the pad material not the steel backing plate).

Good luck.
