Hi there newbie here so pleaase bear with me.

Recently put too much oil in to a Eleganza 2.2D and had a major fright when the car took off on its own with black smoke piling out the exhaust. I did manage to get the car stop which I am told is very lucky quite quickly.

Took to a local garage who drained the oil and started again bt low and behold same thing happened with the turbo kickin in again. They seemed to think major engine problems. Car would then turn over bt not start.

Car is now with a friend who is a good mechanic and the car wont start full stop. it was turning over but now says its just dead although all the dash lights are coming on. He thinks it may be connected to the immobiliser bt unsure.

Do any of you guys out there have any advise that you can offer me or him. He says if he gets the car going again then all the oil should clear out no probs and the engine looks fine.

Any help much appreciated.

 What year is it? Does the central display state any fault such as immobilser fault etc? Was the first garage happy you took car away to another garage or person? Does everything electrical stilll operate windows doors fans wipers etc. How did you get it to stop? Did you use ignition off,handbrake/footbrake? Thanks

The immobilisor goes a bit funny if you disconnect the battery. I don't know what the proper process is, but I have found that if you put the key in the ignition try to start, then take the key out and lock the car and then try again it seems to reset the immobilisor.

Isn't the engine racing caused by oil leaking through the turbo charger oil seals and fuelling the engine. Could be sucked up because you topped it up to much I guess. Is there anyway to clean out the turbo to stop it over revving.

Good luck with it
