Hi eveybody,

ive just sold my R5 Raider so looking for a Coupe n/a

i went to see a n reg 1996 one today but the guy didnt have the red key??
should it have one??
i have the vin if that helps??

anyway from that era i would expect a red key but coop boys n girls will confirm

Yes, it should have 3 keys, Red, Blue and Silver. The Red one being the important one. If it hasn't got one, it's not the end of the world but use it to negotiate a better price

how much are they now?? is there no way of programing a new one,
with out changing the ECU

no you cant just buy a key.either decode the ECU for a few hundred or a complete new/used ecu,locks,keys etc

Don't worry about not having the red key. I know of a very experienced Coupe mechanic who says he's never needed the red key.
Just use it to negotiate a better price

same here i have done lots to my car. with disconecting the battrey etc and have never had any need to use the red key.

some say its to restart the ecu and all that stuff but i have never had any problems and others say its so you can have other keys made with it (key code) but you can do that with the silver key so no need to worrie

as the others said use it to your advantage

I've had the battery out of my coupe for months and never ever needed the red key. I'd go so far to say that you just don't need it.
