Can any one please help me, i am a complete novice at this. All i want to do is lower my car slightly. I have heard i can do this by buying new springs?? Is this true? If so what how much shall i lower it buy in your opinion. Many thanks

Hi,

Ok - You can indeed buy springs on their own or you could buy a full surspension kit which includes springs and dampers. Buying the full kit just makes handling even better.
You can lower the car by upto bout 50mm on 17" wheels - but most people lower between 30 -40mm - I would recomend 40mm myself.

Where are you from? You need to ring up a good company like http://www.fastfiat.com and speak to them - Big Al put me onto them for my springs for my HGT. Very Very good people :)

Hope that helps a bit :)
Mr Al.

i,ve just did this to my car. i lowerd it by 35mm with 17" wheels. used PI springs and kayaba gas super shocks front and rear. total cost for the kit was £210. the ride is 100% better now and i,m well happy :)

Where did you buy your kit? I'm getting my 17's today (WooHoo0!!!) and I'm gonna need to lower mine (1.6 16v)
Sounds like a fair price for the full set. How much was fitting? Is it hard to find a garage to fit them?
Cheers

Re: lowering kit

I'm gettin my Bravo lowered by 30mm this weekend, (springs only though) supplied and fitted for £135 incl VAT. Also gettin some 17" OZ Cronos alloys on. £880 in total for suspension and wheels. Also includes for Yokohama rubber.

springs

i want to lower my bravo too, i cant afford all the dampers just yet so what do ppl think of lowering it 40mm with just the springs?
could this damage my car? or are the dampers just for the smoother ride?

Re: springs

if your shocks are oil filled, i would put gas shocks on first. that is only what i would do if short on cash. gas shocks first. lowering spring second.

I would also like to know how much fitting is on suspensoin. The wheels on here are 16" and i would like to drop it 35mm just buy buying the springs.

Martin you live in Cwmbran yes? Im in Newport, do you know of any cheap places in this area?

Thankyou all

Richard
