Just changed my rocker cover gasket today. No problems as far as I can see, however there was this black plastic piece attached to the rocker cover at the pack by 2 hooks, that I managed to snap.

I can't see this mentioned anywhere in the Haynes manual, and it doesn't seem to do anything. Is this important, do I need it still, and where can I get another one from?

Thanks

From the description Im guessing its a Mk1 8v and fingers is therefore correct!

The wiring loom holder is held in place by a bolt not two clips and like the injection loom holder you wouldnt need to touch it while doing rocker cover.

On MPI im sure it's wiring loom for injectors in back of the rocker cover...maybe wrong but I know which plastic u mean it's jot important they all break

It'll just be the HT lead retainer for cyls 1 and 2. it's only there to keep things tidy and stop the leads from coming into contact with anything that might allow them to arc.

It's not uncommon to find it broken with little to no affect on the running.
