Phonic wheel relearn, without MES

hi
is it possible to reset the ECU - "the crankshaft position sensor", just by disconnecting the battery for 30 min. ?
i dont have MES, just a cheap code reader.
I have fitted a new belt pulley on my fiat punto 2005 1.2 60k 188A4000
And i learned that a phonic wheel relearn is needed.
Any advise on what i can do without MES?
In the workshop manual i only found this about disconnecting battery that will do something to the ecu.

Which motor do you have?

Has it got a timing sensor on the TOP of the motor (camshaft sensor)..??

Yes im pretty sure it has a camshaft sensor to.
