Technical pete from kent ECONOMY MODE

hi i have had my scdo since april 09
i use it as a taxi i love it , the only big thing i hate is that it has an economy mode that turns everything off after 15 mins with the engine off
so if you are sitting there waiting for a job listining to the radio the radio goes off and wont go on again till you start the engine.
which is bleeding anoying because sometimes i am sitting waiting for a taxi job for over an hour.
i can see this feature is a good thing in a way but i need to deactivate it as its driving me mad there must ba a way please help as my dealer in canterbury kent, said they dont know how

Hi. I believe it can be disabled by the main dealer only. It's got to be done on thier computer. Ive not spoken to them about it yet myself but this info came from another driver who claims to have it done. I would be interested to know how you get on.

Quite sure it has saved many a driver from a flat battery however I do see your point. All you can do is start it up every 15mins at least this will keep battery it tip top condition.

i can appretiate it is there for a reason, but another taxi driver has just bought a fiat scudo the 2ltr model exactly the same model as mine although mine is a 1600 cc and he has not got an economy mode on his
and all i have been told by a mate is that all they have to do is disable it on the computer
i would be most grateful if someone can help me out here as of at the moment i have had to have the taxi metre and the 2 way radio rewired to the battery because they switch off after 15 mins which is most annoying when wired to the ignition system
now the 2 are hard wired to the battery.

Strange as all taxis I deal with the radios (and the fare thing) are wired to battery via inline fuse bank.

apparently the 1600 engine in the new scudo is identical as the citreon picasso and i have been told the economy mode features are identical to both makers and can be turned off by computer only i will ring my worthless dealer up and ask them again will let people know when i know

Thats abit unfair Pete, chances are the information is not available/released to them so they can only do /say what they have been informed off. This has always been a problem with scudo/ulysse & I have heard about ford techs phoning fiat techs for advice on the 1.3mj engine etc...
