Anyone have any views on the above replacement cats and their claims ( seem a better idea than a decat esp at MOT time )

Are the sports cats a cat then?

Would have thought that because it increases the bhp it would also increase the emisions so still making it fail the MOT and making it illegal.

Any thoughts on this?

If not im deffo gettin one when mine goes. Would be worth every single penny providing it would not fail the MOT.

Got one, although didn't buy it as a 'performance' cat. Those ones are just standard stainless monolith cats with a HUGE markup. You can buy them for about half that price. I paid £150.

Passes MOT by miles every year.

That site says +15BHP for EVERY engine it lists.

Not bothered about BHP gain, more bothered about making my 5CYL more grunty if it does that?

Its a timax metalcat. Pretty much all overpriced sports cats are these.

Thanx for the info Tom , the +15bhp thing was what was bugging me . Did you notice any difference when you swapped from std cat to " performance " cat .

Not really. You won't really notice a BHP or two though.
