i might be there hopefully in my cinq sporting. anyone live near derbyshire so we could meet up and drive down?

:( can't get the time off of work, if it was one day later t'would be fine but it's in this silly holiday embargo thingy. though might try speaking to the manager. but i'll try not to let that put me off. how long are you on the track for? say if i'm down for the 14:30 what time would it all be over on the track for me? i start work at 4 and it'll take about an hour to get back. hmmmmm.

can get the day off of work if i can arange someone to cover me. which should be easy enough tbh at this time of year with lots of people still in college and just on holiday after a bit of cash. or if i work another shift! what time do you plan to get there bulldog? (first name?) i think the earliest shift i've been offered finishes at 12. so don't know. probs easiest to get someone to cover for me. please could someone in a similar 'performance' car (preferably slower) come along (eg. cento) as well. make it a bit more even

its Ryan ;)

i was going to head down leate morning, leaving here 10/11ish i need to confirm what time the track session is though, i think its about 2pm

dont worry about being the slowest, i'm not going to be hammering it as i have heard its a very fast track.

i'm sure there will be little 1.1 pugs etc out aswell

I was chatting to a bloke at work the other day who is off to Combe next week for a prearranged track day in his race prep'd Golf GTi mk1.

He was telling me that he's watched a few of his friends write their cars off on the Combe track due to excessive speeds into the corners. And we're talking about R32 Skylines and similar cars.

The straights are supposed to be awesome but just dont underestimate how tight the corners are.

I might pop out for a few runs but I wont be pushing it at all, I've never driven on a track before.

I too have seen a few cars smashed up pretty good at coombe, nearly always a muppet though, seen an escort rs turbo slam into the pit wall on the first lap. Turned out he had never been on a track and had only had his car a few days, so he was a track virgin, didn't know his car well and yet he still went like the clappers on his first lap, no wonder he crashed. Think alot of crashes at coombe will be similar, lots of novices get out on that track and try show off to their mates stood watching
