Hi I have a 1.2 8v fiat Punto the problem I'm having when I'm parked up and the car is idling at operating temperature I get an eml light and revs jump to 1500 with no accelerator response I plugged in obd reader came back with P0101 code which came up with air mass circuit I changed the map sensor with a like for like Bosch one same part numbers etc whilst changing this I noticed sensor had mayo on it cleaned it off and the hole in the intake manifold fitted new sensor still getting at idle parked up not in traffic or at traffic lights just when parked with engine at operating temp rough idle then rpm limp mode turn engine off throttle response back someone said it could be the pcv valve stuck but I don't know where it's situated

Breathing system is up in the rocker cover. It goes bad when oil inside gets in the upper part, above the baffle plate snd from there it has a free ticket to manifold.
That happens if the oil lubrication channels up in the rocker cover are clogged (that can happen) and oil is splashed through one or two holes there and gets splattered in the upper part or if the orings around oil channels there are worn out.
Rev jumping to 1500 RPM on idle is mainly a vacuum leak problem. So if your new MAP sensor isn't a fix, check for vacuum leaks on the intake manifold. There are included the idle air control valve and the throttle positioning sensor on the throttle body.

Hi mate firstly thanks for clearing that up for me appreciated I will have a look over the next couple of days if I can't locate anything I'll drop it to my usual mechanic to trouble shoot for me as he only deals with fiats and alfas was hoping to try and save some money by doing it myself thanks again for the response
