I have used FAST about 6 months ago for a cam belt change and full service and could not fault them for their work or their helpfulness. Yesterday I thought I would do a quick oil and filter change before my holidays. I must be getting past it being a pensioner because I couldn't get the drain plug loose. I rang FAST who said NO problem. Barry soon sorted it so I could do the job at home, NO charge. Do you know another garage that would do that so you could do the job. I don't, and they were busy. I used FAST for the first time a couple of weeks ago for the 60k service. The car had been to them previously but not under my ownership.

I too am really pleased the car came back running great, everything was straight forward, nice people to deal with

If you live in the Teesside / stockton / Middlesbrough area I would reccomend them.

I spotted the certificates confirming that they are both FIAT trained tecnicians, it appears they have set up on their own.

good for them!

Brother-in-law had his ECU replaced on his 1.2 8v Punto by FAST. Car doing 20mph max just before Easter weekend coming over the A69 ( ), no help from Reg Vardy (spit) in Stockton so he took it into FAST on the reccomendation of his Dad's mate. Got a quick diagnosis, the parts delivered over Easter weekend and fitted ASAP early the week after. Been top-bananna since.

Despite living in Carlisle he will be getting servicing and other work done at FAST when visiting his Mum and Dad or my folks in Teesside.

I bet they do a roaring trade having all the people who have had enough of Reg Vardy (spit) in the area.

Need to back track on my post.

On the service report it was stated that the rear pads were heavily worn and front pads severly worn - and front discs needed. As their quote ( genuine Fiat parts) was more than I wanted to pay - I went to the family friend who works in an Independant Volkswagon garage. They ordered the parts and I left it with them today to change pads and disks. I went to pick it up tonight.

conversation went like this...

"Who told you you needed your brakes doing"

ME - " FAST- off portrack lane"

" what a load of ********" - " rears are fine and fronts have at least 10k miles left in them before they are anywhere near needing replacement"

ME - " How about the Discs"

" the discs are way off needing replacement"- someones been trying to rip you off there Chris.

FAST Fiat - NEVER EVER AGAIN!

looks like I might be maintaining a NON FIAT related service history from now on then...........

Thanks for that, I've been having a great FAST vs Wentane Motors debate for a while now.

Still haven't decided though...

Am i right in thinking that Wentane doesn't have a service dept and most of their work goes to reg vardy?

Sorry to hear CrisHGT had a problem at FAST, I would have been disappointed as well, did you have a look at them yourself. I know that different cars have different thicknesses of discs, pads etc and because servicing is very often 12,000 miles or yearly it must very difficult to estimate how long things like brakes might last especially on a performance car if you are not used to that make or tolerences. I just had my rear brakes and a full service done at FAST and once again I am completely satisfide. I had a go at the brakes myself as I wanted them done quickly, the cheaper pattern parts didn't have holes for the locating pins on one side of the shoes, found out after I got the shoes in place, those springs are a swine. Other makes were £43 upover so I left it to FAST I am too old to be crouched down for long. Paul did the brakes quickly for me last week although he was on his own and since I was due for a service I had that done today. All work carried out in times stated. Lincoln

Well I know Kwik Fit once told me that I had many miles left on front Pads, only to have them run out 2 days later (Run out as in Metal to Metal Bondage session)

Maybe FAST got it wrong... maybe the other people got it wrong, only way is to take it to someone you trust or do it yourself.

There are very few people I trust with me motor... very few.

Just been speaking to the lads at F.A.S.T about the forum and members opinions. They told me about one guy who they checked the discs and pads for and found one pad to be down to the metal. The rest to 60% worn and discs aproaching minimum thickness. Seems the VW guy didn't check all 8 pads...

Anyway Marea is booked in for cambelt, waterpump and a check on its airbag light. Will have my own opinion by Friday. Also going to get the Tipo checked over before its run to Brooklands.

Its going to cost him £245, that includes cam belt plus tensions etc and water pump. I got mine done there last week and they did a great job (y)
