Technical Part Number for Gearbox

I've got a 2.8JTD LWB, hi-roof, X244. It's a '56 plate but I believe was a late-registered 2005 model?

Anyhoo, I need to get a new gearbox so I can swap out and - at some point - rebuild the one I've got. Anyone able to tell me what part number the box will be so I can make sure I'm getting the same replacement? It's too cold to go out and drop the box and I couldn't see anything from inside the engine bay.

What I can't then see is a part number that tallies with anything on here https://www.proxyparts.com/wiki/gearbox-codes/make/fiat/model/ducato/ which is what I was hoping to use to narrow down my ebay search for compatible vehicles!

hi. when u say new gearbox do u mean new or new second hand as Axel Augustine-de have new boxes in stock for 15inch or 16inch wheels approx. 3000 euros plus shipping. or if you go to top of page to Eper Fiat Ducato you may find parts or part numbers you require. cheers.

I very much mean second hand. I paid £2k for the van four years ago and while we love her (she's a camper-conversion), 3 grand is about 10x what we can afford!

hi scroll to the top of page and look for ePER this is the key to the Fiat parts catalogue click on ePER then click on go then on word Parts then scroll to FIAT ducato. hope this helps. or try contacting Custom Campers UK they normally have a wide selection of second hand parts. google CustomCampersUK,

Found that, thanks. Still mad confused about all the numbers though, these things aren't meant to be easy are they?

I think I'm going to work on pulling the box and see what it actually says!

Next trick is figuring out where to put jack stands :-/

Thanks, I found that before it's a perfect example of a simple, useful post - I just can't get to a point I can see them at the moment. Regardless of what happens the box has to come out, so I figure I'll start breaking the front of the vehicle down (airbox, radiator, etc off for clearance) and as soon as I can get at the box enough to see the labels I can look at sourcing a replacement!

hi , just a little footnote from a little research of ePER the complete gearbox is listed as part number 9464472488 £290.00 BUT although it does not state so I believe that is for the complete CASING not a complete gearbox with all gears shafts and so on. I think your best bet would be to strip old box find which parts are damaged and need replacing for rebuild then price up from ePER it may prove not to be to costly, as all parts are listed and available. cheers
