General Pandas playing polar bears

Hello panda people, just got my first panda a month ago, here she is in the snow, I love her already! she makes an alarming array of noises  and will be a bit of a basket case for a while, rebuilt and painted the calipers today already as one seized on me last week; but hopefully we'll get through it. expect some noise diagnostics requests in the technical section in the coming weeks.

Jobs i've covered already: Gear linkage bushings, painted 2 sets of wheels, fitting extras (bullbars, floodlights, roofrack, prayerflags) oh and a major spring clean :)

You're headlights look as if they could melt the snow in front of you as you drive .

Well had some outstanding snowage this week. 4x4 is faultless as usual, looking forward to some before this weekend is over!! Fingers crossed :slayer:

Here are some pictures (sorry in the dark because i dont see daylight these days!! ) No snow days allowed at work, mean buggers.

Will be out in the snow tomorrow, and will get some juicy mk1 piccies :p

Si

Mini under the snow?one more member in your stable?

We have some snow, too:D I took my daughter for a ride today, we went to the "Aviator's Hill", a place in the woods near Warsaw, where B-24 Liberator crashed in 1944. There's a small monument there. The B-24 was from South African Air Forces, he was destroyed during operation "Warsaw Concerto" - air help for Warsaw Uprising. Three young pilots died - one from South Africa, two from England.
We had fun in the snow on the way(y)

Hi, welcome to Panda ownership (y)

I doubt if you've got any noises that someone on here wouldn't have heard before, I'd be no good if they're 4x4 related though as I've never had one.(n)

Ha ha....loud disturbing noises are normal.....you should hear the 'racket' Giuseppe makes! lol Sounds like ive got a chinook in the gearbox!:D
Going to investigate in the spring when weather is better.....can't decide whether its just wheel bearings or gearbox...dont think its cv joints as it does'nt get any worse when cornering....still, its probably just healthy noises to let me know everything is still turning! he he. Who needs idiot lights or computer controlled systems! ha ha. You just gotta keep driving with neopolitan passion....even in snow and ice!:slayer:

Re: 'Snowy' Panda Pics!

Ha! there she is. Glad you're enjoying her LWM, good timing eh?

Couldn't have been better - I'd planned on laying it up till the better weather, but as it hadn't failed on much I just decided to go for it... surprised it passed!
As it turned out unable to work anyway in this so I've had the time to do it.
Thanks again Vernon (y)

Today I got up a pretty steep bank that was covered in snow and slush, when I got to it there was an Audi A3 half way up stuck, he backed down and I had a go, I went straight up with hardly any wheelspin or skidding:slayer: Proves how much of a difference thin tyres and low weight makes. Could have just been the way they were driving though:rolleyes:

:slayer: :slayer::slayer: Good to know. I've been able to get everywhere I've needed to recently but that's been partly because most of my routes are on main roads which have been salted, so I was wondering how the 2wd Panda would fare on a snowy hill. I've been out on snow covered roads, as my pics testify, but they were flat so not really a proper test, but as I needed to go to work later that day I didn't want to go looking for trouble.

We must savour these little victories over more modern machinery when they occur. I for one will be venturing out today with even more confidence and pride today (y).

Hooning around in the snow. Taken end of last week and the weekend.

Nice photo's, is that your mini too? I actually really like the clubman in brown, not many cars can pull off that colour lol!!!
I wana play in snow though :( All melting here in Gloucestershire.... Although, this might be a good thing, as I think the white 4x4's engine has been lost :( So its seat marbella time, and hoping for no snow and ice till the weekend  So little grip with such a light car with 185 tyres!

Hi all,

Anyone else house bound? My 4x4's engine is dead, and I had to rely on the marbella today....

DSCI2225.JPG

Really worries that someone is going to hit her, after all the work I have put into her :( Her back end is out in the road with my front wheel on my neighbours front lawn!!

And this is how far I got from my drive....

DSCI2226.JPG

I feel so stupid though, as I spent all of last night trying to get my 4x4 working and didnt put the thin standard marbella wheels on instead. 135 as aposed to 185 tyre width!!

Si, Mini is a 1275GT with M&S tyres on front. Not mine, belongs to my mate, who at the time was coming the other way, so we stopped for a chat. And piccies.

Vin

how the hell did your marbella end up there panimonious? :D
Mine practically skiis through the stuff.

Yes, I expect they normally do! But mines riding on lancia beta coupe alloys with 185 tyres better suited to track use. It was one of the silliest things I have attempted to get away with to be fair lol. I could hardly stand on the road  It was ice beneatha soft velvety snow blanket that gave me the illusion it was safe.

Anyway, another day working at the repair of the 4x4's engine should mean that britain comes out of the deep freeze pronto!! hahaha. Beats sitting at a computer all day when the systems are all down!!
