seller said that I can drive it back home (York) but I'm still not sure about insurance :(
Has anybody got any experience with it...??

I'm not sure about the insurance front. But TBH I personally would stay clear. For £50 I would have thought the current owner would have done the transfer to UK plates, would make the sale so much easier. Also the insurance will always cost more than a UK model just because that's a LHD.

Yes, that would be easier...but I don't understand why seller is never going to do this...if it's so easy and cost 50 which buyer can pay (of course)...
it's like with MOT "I'm sure that car will pass it easy"-how many times I read it on description...:)
I'll see how much will be the price...because it needs min. 120pounds to get it on the road....

Plus compleate replacement of lightunits!

I can't see it having passed an MOT, not on UK plates for a start :p,

"you can drive it back home, we have all the applicable paperwork for the buyer....
....Brand new UK MOT comes with the car (as per listing) "
hmm I'm confused now:confused:

Cant the lights be sorted with the little sticky things for halfords???

kev

Yes and no. They can be made legal, but won't be nearly as effective, as the things you by normally block light, rather than redirect it (some do some don't), and then all you need it some little sod/chav/gang membet (:ROFLMAO:) to come and rip the things off :(

Maybe the seller doesn't want the car to have more "owners" than necessary. If he registers it and it's only his for a few days, then he sells it on, then the car will have had two owners in a matter of days...... Just a thought?

My friend has his two citroens on foreign plates and he has them MOT'd every year. Also lights and speedo only have to be replaced on a car that is under a certain age. Maybe ten years but I can't be certain.......Cost my brother loads to get his german Opal Astra registered here cause it was only 12 mths old.

I know you can leave a car on foreign plates as long as it leaves the country atleast once every 6 month's, if not they as far as I was aware the plates and lights need to be changed to UK spec (rear lights mainly, headlight's you can get away with the deflector things 'purple haze' mentioned). Clockes you can leave in KM/H if you want (but can't use the excuse to get away with speeding, lol :p)
