General Posh Panda Selecta for sale via Bonhams

I just received an email from Bonhams about an upcoming auction featuring a Panda Selecta. It started it’s life in Monaco and accordingly features a rather upmarket interior. I remember seeing this Panda on Bonhams auction site years ago, with its Monaco plates. Stunning, although I do prefer the crazy brown stripy interior in my Selecta. Actually, all 3 (well 4 if I count the one I bought twice) of my Selecta’s have had the brown stripy interior and have been black in colour.

I thought there were a couple of thousand Selecta’s produced. A quick check on ‘How many left’ confirms considerably more Panda Selecta’s registered in the 90’s, than the amount Bonhams say were produced. About 10 currently taxed and 30ish on SORN.

Also I was always under the impression the Panda was named after Empanda, the Roman goddess of travellers, though my mate is convinced it was named Panda to raise awareness of the plight of Panda bears being almost extinct. He said his mums one, a Panda Habitat, came with a Panda WWF sticker from the dealership ?!?
