The wife has a 2004 Panda, it's on steel wheels with 155/80r13 tyres. The spare is a 'emergency use' 135/80r13.

Are the spare wheel RIMs the same width as the normal rims?

I.e. can I just fit a 20mm wider tyre, and have a full size spare?

The emergency spare wheel works just fine in an, er, emergency. There's no mileage limit on using it, and it uses the standard wheel bolts; it'll get you home.

If you carry a full size spare, you'll lose the flat boot floor. You can have the best of both worlds by keeping a full size wheel or two in the garage, ready to go.

Whichever you choose, make sure to check the pressure regularly. It'd be a shame to have the foresight to carry one, and then find out it's nearly flat when you put it on the car on a dark and rainy night. Been there, done that.
