General Panda strip project

General Panda strip project

The project is moving ahead.........the roll bar is done...just a bit more welding and shaping. I added a lip to the bar in front of the windshield. I am going to make a targa top similar to a top on an X1/9. Next is the two rear fenders. They need to be extended over the taillights and finished on top.

Next will be the tailgate.......not sure if it will be fixed or flip down like on a pickup truck.

Front seat have gone out to be recovered in a nice beige fabric. Mags are arriving next week and still need to find some nobby 14" tires.

Question: Was the molded carpet every available in beige or only grey?

Also desperately looking for a bull bar......anyone?:worship:

More pics later in the week.

The Fiat Panda was never imported into North America. Fiat stopped selling the 124 Spider in 1984 and since then has not sold a single car in North America. There are no Fiat dealers and no official parts suppliers.

Fiat that now owns Chrysler has announce that the Fiat 500 will be available in North America within 10 months. Models available will be Pop, Sport and Lounge. The Fiat 500 will be sold thru the Chrysler dealer network......should be interesting. Bit sadly no Abarth version has been announced.

My little Panda was privately imported into Canada and modified to comply to Canadian standards and import rules. I think there are only maybe 4 Panda's in all of Canada. If there are more owners drop me a line.

UPDATE: The rear fenders and extension over the tail lights are almost done. A bit more welding and grinding. Next is the rear tailgate panel. I have decided the panel will be fixed in position. PIAA driving lights are in. Looking for outside rear mirrors.

I've just had a thought about the side mouldings for this. How are you getting on with those by the way?

It may help to achieve the look of the original concept by fitting Seat Marbella side mouldings and bumpers like so:

Still not quite the wide arched look you need but closer than what you have at the moment I think.

Just a quick update. Finally figure out the tilting windshield issue. After some detail work it is off to grinding and body finishing.

Hi Kevin, **the project is painted and I have started to re-assemble the car. New interior is on order. It took along time for me to source the interior from Canada. I should be finished by mid summer. Fiat came back to North America with the 500 9 months ago. I purchased a 500 sport. I am having to much fun customizing and working on the 500. I will post pics of the Panda when I am done. Andrew/YUL
