Hi guys I recently had my dizzy fully reconned by HH. I bought a coil from the guys too but as you can see the coil supplied has a multisocket on. The coil on Sisley in the 1st 2 photos has three wires going to tag connectors. Is there a plug available so I can convert or can someone tell me how to get the correct type coil for her. Anyway she was running more sweetly than ever a few days ago and suddenly she has developed an electrical fault?! A panda with an electrical fault would you believe it! Runs beautifully then kaput warms up no spark at all???? Anyone had this fault before, I'm thinking the old coil I tried to replace is playing up but also wondering about the large resistor on the drivers side.

A dizzy has to last longer than 200 miles surely it can't be that again!

That coil is from an Uno after the change to SPI, take it back and tell them to supply one of the earlier type, which was used on Panda's and Uno's on a carb ( pre 1992 )

As to the ignition failure, sounds like your refurbed unit is faulty.

Rgds.

If the refurb unit is faulty why does it run perfectly when cold? in all my many encounters with Magnetti Marrelli breakdowns I've never come across this one. Runs beautifully cold, soon as warm spark disappears. Maybe I can swap dizzys with my other Panda 4x4 to see what happens. Yes thanks found the correct coil now BAE506F :)

Electronic unit breaks down when hot, has been seen before.

Check also for hairline cracks in distributor cap or faulty centre carbon, these can cause same problem.

It's almost certainly the little electronic ignition module on the distributor box at fault. All the Sisley's seem to suffer from it at some point - there are loads of threads around on here. Runs perfectly until nearly at operating temp then dies with no spark - after about 5 mins it will restart then do the same again........... :bang:

Mine did exactly the same as yours but unfortunately the replacement module was also faulty - this took a bit of tracking down, involving new coils etc, but another new module did the trick!! It's Intermotor part number 15450 in case that helps. (y)

Cheers, Gavin.

Thanks, I guess the last place you look to find a fault is the new part you just replaced. Sounds like your right thanks will know when I switch sensors off my other Panda. Anyone got a new distributor for sale? I think I am going to buy 100s of them just in case!
