General Panda - Safe engine?

Hi Guys,

I've just bought a used 05 Panda Dynamic 1.2 petrol 56000 mls.

On asking my local Fiat dealer for quote on a fitting a replacement cam-belt, they told me that the engine is "safe" i.e. if the belt sould fail there shouldn't be consequetial damege like bent valves. Is this right?

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I've asked a second Fiat dealer but they've told me the opposit...

Yes this is correct for the 8v its what is called a F.I.R.E engine which means fully integrated robotised engine this doesn't apply to the 16v valvers tho and they are interference engines 8v should be ok
