You can buy the halogen bulb as a conversion we have them at work for the old buses h4 to look at, but with the old round base. Iv got lots but all 24v

This is the pic of the bulb we use at work (p45t) type

one thing i would love to do is convert the standard P45 fitting headlamp reflectors to H4 type. i hate P45 with a passion.
they never sit right in Talons headlamps, loose wobble around and over time the bulb points upwards making the beam patten drop very low.

i am considering taking the old pair of marbella headlamps (that are H4) taking the reflectors out and sticking them in the spare set of panda headlamps i have.

be nice to not have to pull over again and re-clip in head lamp bulbs in the pitch dark.

Never had an issue with ours, sounds like user error :p

Well that'd be a lie, only issue is with some of the original P45T units, incorrectly manufactured causing beam issue from the off.

i cant figure it out.. its like the P45t fitting is too large for the headlamp. it kinda sits on top but does not slot in. i have always had this problem.. the rain cover is about the only thing holding the bulbs in place. the little clip things dont really do a lot.

i made a rant video about it but i have not uploaded it.. maybe i should to show the problem.. ?

You were not a happy bunny while you were doing that, were you?

I know you won't won't to hear this, but you are putting them in wrong. There is an indent on the bulb-holder part of the headlight, they are just a bit less visible than a normal H4 setup.

I reckon that all your bulb trouble stems from the fact that you never get them right into the headlamp.

I suspect part of your problem is that you are trying to install the bulb, whilst having the splash cover and the electrical connector already on the back of the bulb. Why don't you try installing the bulbs on their own, nothing hanging off the back of them, until you are satisfied that the bulbs are correctly in place - they do fit, honestly.

well next time i am at an event folk can take it in turn to try and get them to sit in.. i just cant figure it out.

i have lined up the little cut out thing with the raised bit on the bulb, but still it just moves around. it is like the hole in the headlamp is not big enough for the bulb.

when i replace the rain cover it makes the bulb move so i have to take it all off again.

i dont really care how the light comes out of the headlamp so long as it keeps passing MOTs. i have tried everything i can think of.. even holding the bulbs up with wire, but they still shake loose over time.

i can help but wonder if its the bulbs.. i have tried everything i can think of though.

i need to compare them with the grey panda's bulbs see if i can see any difference. ive not had them out on that yet.

When I drive at night other drivers flash their full beam at me because my dipped beam is pretty bright. Then when I flash my full beam they usually stop. I keep thinking headlight alignment might be the problem, but have never had a problem with the mot. Does anyone else get this? It's pretty annoying!

I don't, and I've them on all the time in the Pandas. Might be height issue, and not beam pattern, MOT will only pick up height it pointing at the sky, not if slightly higher than normal from experience.

Either that or you've some fatties in the boot :p

I will check into it cheers :) and no fatties in the boot that I am aware of no (y)

John try another bulb maby, on trekking I have h4-s but with p45 base, they fit well into the "hole" in the lamp, do not move/twist/shake when driving or puting on the rubber cover, even the h4 based bulbs in p45 lamp works/holds better after bending a bit the mounting clip than your p45 in p45 socket:) something is wrong there. :)

Hi, I've just bought a 4x4, which I haven't come up with a name for yet; which we are going to do the PandaRaid in (more on that elsewhere). I had a head light bulb blow, so came across this thread in the forum, since my car had H4 bulbs in, but they didn't seem to fit very well.

So thank you for clearing up that its a P45T base. I also race 2CVs for my sins, and they also use a P45T based bulb; and you can get P45T-based H4 bulbs from ECAS, which solves all the tricky adaptor problems. They go straight in. I also found that you can get 80 / 100W ones from HIDS4U, but I don't know yet if the wiring is up to it. I'd post the links, but I'm new, so can't

I'm trying to find a Xenon conversion that has P45T bases, but can't find one. Maybe its worth trying with an adaptor, which seem pretty easy to buy too.

Worth reading this thread if you haven't already! (y)

You could use H4 to P45T adapters

I got some and I will try them on when I get some H4 bulbs
