Dearestest forum members,

I have a "new" (Tageszulassung for my fellow Germans) Fiat Panda 2024, bought last September, and I have some questions about what I think are problems, but could maybe just be normal. I'm also a new driver so some of these might be questions due to lack of experience as well.

1 - Rear window wiper fluid only comes out after a few seconds (2 or 3). The car behaves like this since I got it. Is the hose emptying itself out, potentially leaking somewhere? Or is it normal?
This last Sunday I was vacuuming the cabin, and noticed there was some moisture on the left side of the front driver carpet, only on the carpet. I looked at a diagram from eper and the washer fluid hose seems to be on the right of the car. However the diagram could be of an older model, as the washer fluid tank looks different.
I'm taking it into service tomorrow to get it checked out. Knowing if the delay on the rear window jet is normal or not might help diagnose my car.

2 - Rear middle passenger occupancy sensor freaks out sometimes when no one is in the rear seat. This happens only if I had a passenger in the rear, and only when they were but are not in the seat anymore, or are not in the car at all. I then have to go and buckle the middle seat belt for the car to stop beeping. One time recently as I drove down the street it stopped beeping by itself.
Is this kind of behavior normal or should I get it checked out?

3 - According to a friend the clutch is "spongy" at the end. I started driving last year and have no idea if the clutch feels normal or not. I didn't pay that much attention in other cars because I was always just focusing on not stalling. After I started feeling more confident with manuals, I didn't really have an opportunity to try a different car.

4 - Gear stick a bit stiff when switching gears when the car is cold. I kind of wonder if it's just due to the transmission not being up to temperature.

5 - Not necessarily a problem, just seeking advice: the oil dip stick is extremely hard to read with new oil. I read somewhere in the forum that it will darken over time. It is yellow and it was extremely hard to read the oil level. It gets a little easier as the oil ages tho.

Other than this I have really been loving my Panda. I already changed the oil once myself, since the engine is still breaking in, and I'm amazed by how simple working on the car is.
I wish there was more content online about newer Pandas with the hybrid engine, but it's really hard to find tutorials or technical specifications. All the stuff on eper also looks to me like it's for different older trims. But I assume more content will come up as the car ages.

Cheers from Munich!

1: Normal.

2: Don't know...

3: Clutch is hydraulic operated, uses the same fluid as the brakes, maybe time for a brakefluid change.

4: Change gear oil ( handbook), but a little hars when cold is normal.

5: You will learn how to read it, put the dipstick on white paper helps.

If it's a TwinAir, be extremely carefull to choose the correct oil, 0W30 C2, nothing else, and be aware that a little oil consumption is normal for these engines.
Always keep the level at "Max".
Did you change the oil filter as well..?

The car was first registered in November 2024 (by the dealer), stayed at a lot until I got it in September 2025. I will definitely ask the dealer to change it with the next inspection.

It's a GSE Firefly 1.0. It uses a different oil, but yeah I am hyper aware of that. There's horror stories from people who used the wrong oil and had premature timing chain wear. And yes, I did change the oil filter as well as the sump screw (they don't sell the rubber gasket separately).

Thanks for the input!

Specifically ask them to bleed the clutch or they wont do it just the brakes'

The seat sensor sounds faulty it should still be a warranty job? In UK warranty was 3 years.
This dipstick thing is ridiculous. BE CAREFUL it can look full when empty or empty when full. Either case can result in actions or lack of that lead to big problems. I have made a steel dip stick which works but it has to hang on the garage wall as too bog to carry around.

Thanks for the tip! I will make sure to ask for that.

I would have imagined tho that if they replace the brake fluid that they would bleed both brakes and clutch 🤔
Otherwise, if the clutch shares the same reservoir it would potentially contaminate the brand new brake fluid. Or is it just the same fluid but a sealed system?

2 years warranty (from first registered) but I got 3 years extended warranty with the dealer. The mechanic told me today this would definitely be covered.

I kind just relied on using exactly as much oil as the manual asks for. It was a little complicated tho because the new oil filter was a different size, and I didn't really know how much less oil to put in.
Do you know what the difference in volume between MIN and MAX is roughly? Just so I know how much oil to add if I conclude it's on the MIN line.

Also, I have noticed there's a little divot more or less half way between MIN and MAX where the oil likes to pool. I kind of have been relying on it as it's the only part of the stick I can actually see any oil. Do you know if this is okay to do?

The damp floor could be owing to a blocked rainwater drain in the scuttle (the space at the back of the engine bay and beneath the windscreen.). They easily block with fallen leaves and so water can back up in there. Search for ‘duckbills’ In this forum (the rubber drain tube on the older model looked like a duck’s beak, and the name has carried over, even though the part is a different shape now.

The delay in water reaching the rear screen washer is normal, especially if it’s not been used for a while. There is a one-way valve in the pipe but even then water tends to drain back toward the washer bottle and takes a moment to pump back through again.

Someone posted a solution to the dipstick in another thread. Take the dipstick out, wipe it and put it back (as normal). Then, take it out again, hold it horizontally, and touch it carefully against some paper towel. That will leave a ‘wet patch’ on the paper that shows where the ‘wet’ part of the dipstick is - and so, where the oil level is.

There’s also a joint in the hose which carries screen wash to the rear window. This is in the centre of the scuttle and can leak or pop off completely leading to a buildup of water there. It’s a good idea to seal that joint with some adhesive heat shrink tubing for peace of mind.

The car is still relatively new and stays in an underground garage most of the time, so I think this is not the problem. We also have had the first rain since the start of Winter today, so it probably wouldn't be that. Thanks for suggesting it tho!
I am aware of this problem from seeing some forum posts. It would be nice if there was a guide with pictures and/or a video on how to clean those out. I want to write some guides as I learn how to do stuff in the car, but I still don't know for sure how to do this specifically.

The mechanic said the same thing, however I still feel like it takes extra long in my car. 2 or 3 seconds was just a guess. I did see a forum post from a 500 owner with a similar problem and he seemed to have an issue with the hose, like I fear I have. After fixing it the delay was gone.
Here's the forum post.

Funnily enough I saw this quote there: "I know that the rear water hose runs along the bottom left side of the car." and the mechanic told me it runs along the top.
It makes me wonder if it's the same on my panda and if the mechanic is wrong. If so it would explain the wet carpet. I will mention this to the mechanic on Monday.

I tried this recently but I am still not completely convinced that I am reading the level properly. I'm hoping over time I'll being to understand it better. Maybe if I do this and take a picture, and repeat it after some months, I can actually notice a difference.
My concern tho is that I'm shaking the stick too much on the way out and that tipping it will make the oil flow and mess up the reading.

I think I had this exact issue with the car when I first got it. After I came back from the dealer I tested all the features, and realized that when I used the rear washer water, it would actually spray me on the legs. Like the fluid sprayed inside the car.
They fixed it pretty fast, so I guess it must have been at an easy to access place.

Thank y'all for your input!

so far as I know it goes up inside the right hand side of the windscreen pillar (as seen sitting in the car) and along above the right hand doors. You can see it in my ‘guide’ to clearing the scuttle drains (which I’ll find a link to and add as an edit to this reply). Part of the issue is that there is only one washer pump — it spins one way to spray the windscreen, and the other way to spray the back window. This tends to mean it sucks a little back from the rear pipes when it squirts the front.

There is an ePER diagram showing this, however it seems to be for a different model of panda. Maybe Fiat used to route it through the right side but now routes it through the left side. I think a lot is different with the current hybrid panda.

If you look at the rubber cable seal (don't know the name of the part), where the cables from inside the car are routed inside the trunk door, does your rubber "hose" come from the right side of the car or from the left side of the car? Mine comes from the left side.

Thanks for linking the guide btw! Maybe one day it could be added to the actual guides section :)
I think we need to give the Panda guides section a bit more content. If life doesn't get in the way I will definitely try to contribute some.

now you’ve got me wondering - I’m sure there are two rubber ‘things’ (I also don’t know what to call them…) between my car and the hatchback (trunk door) — one at either side. I’ll go and look!

Here’s the post about accessing the drains. I’ll make a guide from it and add to those I’ve already put there (and a couple in the older 169 model too)

Updates after visiting the garage:

I'm taking it into service tomorrow to get it checked out. Knowing if the delay on the rear window jet is normal or not might help diagnose my car.
I showed them where I noticed the water on the carpet and told them about the delay when using the rear wiper water. They dismissed the delay problem saying it was normal.
I told them I though there might be a leak somewhere in the hose, or maybe a problem with the one way valve. They told me afterwards they just "fixed something in the rear" (most likely the one way valve?) and told me to observe if the moisture problem persists. They're assuming the water just dripped all the way from the rear to the driver footwell, even tho the rear passenger footwell was dry 🤔

Kinda bummed that they didn't actually try to look for a leak. It would be pretty easy to spot since the wiper liquid is blue.

The good news is that the problem with the delay is completely gone now. As soon as I push the stalk the water comes out.

I'm also happy with the effort they put into additional small stuff tho, like they adjusted the front water jets (they were a little too high before I guess, tho now I feel like it's too low, but at least doesn't spray cars behind me). They also topped up the wiper water tank.

Rear middle passenger occupancy sensor freaks out sometimes
They unfortunately forgot to check this tho 🥲

U...They told me afterwards they just "fixed something in the rear" (most likely the one way valve?)
The one-way valve is in the scuttle... not at the back

I have never yet found a garage that is able to fix this sort of thing. Unless they can plug in teh computer and get a code from it, they really don't know how to look after cars anymore. That's why I steer well clear of big dealerships or second hand car dealers for repairs, and do my own. (I do have faith in small workshops for servicing though :) )

No, you do not. This will wreck your washer jets. The front jet is adjusted by using a small screwdriver in the screw slot on the side of the jet. The rear jet is not adjustable - attempting to will break it.
