Advice please! My daughter has a 1992 Panda 1000 CLX with a genuine 45K miles with Fiat alloys that has been off road since late 2012. We may need to move it off of our drive soon and she'd prefer that it went, preferably, to someone who will restore it or otherwise, to a breaker/parts seller. We've no idea if these are still being renovated (and how much they fetch nowadays). It was working perfectly until then when it was vandalised whilst at university. Only damage was the driver's door window frame being bent (to get at the internal lock) and the steering lock was wrenched (no idea of condition but advise best to check this if renovating).
Thanks

Although it's always hard to tell without a closer inspection, this certainly doesn't look beyond the ability of an enthusiast to restore. The interior looks good and it should still have plenty of life in it mechanically given the low mileage. However, it will take a lot of recomissioning after sitting for so long and there is clearly some bodywork needs attention with almost certainly some welding etc. in the usual weak spots. I would say that there should definitely be some interest out there but don't expect it to fetch much more than scrap value.

People are restoring the old Pandas so definitely worth finding someone that can do it up! In project form like this and for a 2wd they aren't worth a massive deal but I would certainly say someone would do it up rather than parting it if it wasn't totally rotten underneath as well. Good luck with the hunt finding a new home, if you don't get anywhere then let me know - it shouldn't go to waste! I've already got 6 Pandas so try to refrain from putting my name down for more...

just please tell me that you/the car is not based near Derby.. heh

i really regret selling Fallout.. more than any other car i have had before and thats saying something.
i know people would hate me for it but i really want to do "it" again. however i always said i would only do it to another 4x4 but this time go all out with suspension lift.

see rust is the biggest issue.. myself i dont shy away from fixing it but i know others would. if you run your hands down the backs of the sills pressing a bit, does it still feel solid or is it crunchy? the worst points are usually right at the back of the sills near the rear wheels. the rust on the doors is nothing..

Apologies for taking a while to reply. Thanks for your feedback. My daughter has already spoken to some breakers and has found a reputable one who specialises in popular restoration vehicles who will give her more than she originally paid for it. Obviously, we'd prefer that it was restored but at least its parts can help heal other Pandas! Still open to a restorer though if one comes forward soon!

Thanks. Underneath may need a little welding but isn't too bad. Thanks, we may get back to you (as above, we'd prefer that it was restored). In the meantime, in preparation, please just practice the phrase, "I've only got 7 Pandas". Doesn't sound so bad if you say it quickly! :)

We have certainly had a few more than that before! Currently have 3 4x4 Sisleys, a 750 Mania, 1000 Fizz and 750 Italia 90, although one Sisley will likely fly the nest soon, so if it becomes 5 then adding another back up to 6 probably isn't so bad! I shouldn't say things like that - a recipe for personal disaster ;) Let us know how it goes!

Joking aside, as before, we'd prefer it went to someone who would restore. My daughter has been offered £450 by the breakers based in the business park where she works so if you do want the car do please get in touch ASAP. We don't have access to a flatbed truck or any towing equipment so would have to ask you to provide this.

Joking aside, we'd prefer that it went to someone who would restore so please let me know ASAP if it is of interest. The specialist breakers in the business park where she works (so are known to her) have offered my daughter £450+ so beat that and it's yours! We do not have access to a flatbed truck or towing equipment so would have to ask you to provide that. Please contact me via private message to exchange contact details inc. a phone number if you wanted to ask further questions. Thanks.

No, nowhere near Derby (luckily for you!). We're in SW Surrey. I've checked the sills and, to me, they feel OK although I'm no mechanic. Also, last year, when I needed to release the brakes (to move it) I jacked the car up on both sides using the jacking slots on both sills with no odd noises from the sills areas! I'm happy to ask my son (who is a mechanic!) to double check and offer an opinion. I've been amazed at how well it has stood up to sitting for this time outside. The main rust areas (driver's door, scuttle panel, boot sill around lock) seem little changed from when it was in use.
As with other replies, I'd love it to go to a restorer but I am aware that you'd have a 5.5 hour round trip to view/check!

£450 is a ridiculously good scrap price! At work we are getting 2/300 per car! Unfortunately I cannot beat that price anyway, especially not after sorting transport as I don't have anything in that aspect either, we use a delivery company but it costs of course! I do hope someone can take it on to restore rather than part out though, maybe the Panda Classic group on Facebook (more active than here nowadays) or eBay/Carandclassic would be a good idea?
