I've just changed the spark plugs on my 100hp and in doing so have damaged (broken) the plastic on some of the connectors on both the coil packs and the wiring harness. They were very brittle and just fell apart. I've put it all back together and the car seems to run fine.

I have a few questions:

1.) Can I leave it as is?

2.) The coil packs are at least 9 years old and have done 30,000 miles. They may even be original (Champion) so could have done 75,000 miles. Should I just replace the damaged ones or replace all 4?

3.) Should I try and source a replacement for the coil pack wiring harness? A brief search in ePER and online has found nothing.

Many thanks in advance,

Jonathan

Bathroom silicone sealant releases acetic acid which will rot the copper wires. Silicone RTV is OK or you can use electronics grade for a harder cured rubber.

Ideally replace the wires with heat resistant silicone insulated wire. You will need appropriate colours, connectors stripping tool and crimping tool. Wrap with self-amalgamating tape. You can get a high temperature type but its not cheap.

Wires can be laced with appropriate thread. It's used on aircraft and industrial wiring.

Alternatively this does the job
