Okay...after finally finding my paint code and giving it to the person who will be paiting my spoiler I recieved a phone call to tell me that the colour of the paint code I gave him is a burnt orange colour.

Only problem is...my car is metallic silver!

The paint code is 517/A - does anyone know any way of checking this?

Would a Fiat garage be able to tell me the correct code, even though it is a MK1 Punto?

i would give the garage a phone - it can't hurt - that or find someone else with a metallic silver car of the same model

I dunno Fixit...I was told here are 11 different colours of silver/grey in the Fiat range...I'd really need to make sure its the same colour!

Mine kinda sparkles as though there are wee shiny bits in the paint.

Its definitley been done by Fiat...all the correct stickers are there...and the paint work was touched up slightly on chips by the previosu owner.

I'm gonna pop into the local Fiat dealership tomorrow!

Turns out...the colour code on the car is for Burnt orange!

The actual colour on teh sticker says Arancio Orla VR...which if I had realised does say orange!

Went to Fiat garage who took my chassis number and after some puzzled looks at a computer screen and a walk into an area I couldn't see I've been told my colour is Grigio Steel Metallic, colour code 647.

I just hope that is the right colour and not a guess at it after looking at the car!

I would get a second opinion from a paintshop you don't want to spray it and find out its a different colour!

go to halfords mate, they can check the code and colour on computer and mix it up on the spot if needed, they will even go out to your motor and do a check with the paint once it's mixed. £6.99 for a brush tin, £8.99 for a spray tin

Reminds me of my old Mk1 Scirocco (1979). BBC 631T - anyone seen it? The colour could only be described as gold, although the code and the registration document described it as turquoise.

Either someone got it wrong or it had been through a very expensive bare metal respray :)
