Evening all

It's been a couple of months since you helped me identify and fix the non-starting problem caused by the Sigma immobiliser. Sadly we have experienced more costly vehicle repairs since - a turbo replacement.

We now have another niggly problem and despite reading some historical threads, I am back to seek guidance.

Vehicle starts ok and runs fine, however, when the accelerator pedal is pressed, the EML illuminates red.
OBD code is P0220.
The OBD scanner graph recognises the accelerator being pressed, in the live graph section.
Code will clear, but then returns next time the vehicle is started and accelerator is pressed.

I have replaced the accelerator pedal - fault remains.
I have removed the connector plug (6 wires) from the accelerator pedal. There is no damage.
I have accessed the multiplug (D004 I believe) from the base of the fuse box in the engine bay. There is no obvious damage and no water ingress.
I am struggling to trace the wires from the accelerator (6 pin plug), as they seem to go through the floor. The rubberised flooring is difficult to manipulate. I note from historical threads, that there is another connector plug before the ECU, but I am aware that @Communicator has a similar vehicle and has offered help to other members with this fault, but I believe that the help was for the X250 vehicle.

Can anyone please offer any guidance to help me (and my apprentice - whom will be by my side (begrudgingly all weekend :ROFLMAO: )) trace and fix the fault?

Thanks

If I understand correctly then your inspection of the wiring has been general, rather than specific.

I am afraid that I do not have a magic wand to wave, but I can supply copies of eLearn diagrams, which may have been corrected, or annoted by me.
I have not included the Engine Connector D004A, of which there are 9 different variations. The appropriate pins are on the engine management diagram, for which I have assumed that the "green filter" version is appropriate. (My green filter is black.)

I cannot see why the accelerator pedal cable should exit via the floor, but it will have to pass into the engine compartment somewhere.

Correct - I had only checked for damage, bent pins, etc.
Using meter, we have measured resistance on all 6 wires from the accelerator pedal to the D004 multi plug in bottom of the main fuse box.
Pins 1 - 5 gave reading as shown in pic 1.
Pin 6 gave reading in pic 2.
Other pic shows multi plug.

Would the difference in readings be the problem?

Afternoon.
Some time has passed since the last post and the following has happened:
1) I took the vehicle to an experienced auto electricians and they couldn't get their diagnostic equipment to communicate with the vehicle.
2) I have purchased the Multiecuscan software and connected it today.

A scan shows no fault codes.
I have attached a pic of some chosen parameters - relevant I believe.
I have fitted a new brake switch today - no need to explain how difficult this is - parameters haven't changed.
I have tried to use the relearn function for the CC, but it fails.

CC has worked in the past.
EML still illuminates immediately when the throttle pedal is pressed - engine running or not.

Does this new info help you to help me?
Thanks

Perhaps I should also explain that.....

"Brake contact 2" does not change from closed, whether or not the brake pedal is pressed or not.

This is the brake pedal switch. Guess that 2 wires for brake lights and 2 for CC?
I've done so much today, sorry I can't recall if the parameter changes if I disconnect it. I'll try that tomorrow.

I think that the black and white brake pedal switch illustrated is only a single contact switch. That at least applied to the original switch on my x244, which had to be changed when I added cruise control. A two contact switch is required when cruise control is fitted.
I do appreciate the difficulty in changing the switch. Member Ocwobio even started a thread about the problem encountered when changing the switch.

I read with interest the struggles of changing the brake pedal switch. I noted you'd filed the plate behind the column. I have many aches and pains today!
You suggest the switch is incorrect. I went to the local motor factors and this is what they sold me. The alternative one has 2 terminals.
Perhaps I should contact coastal motorhomes tomorrow.
Thanks

Perhaps I was mistaken about the colouring of the switch. My black and white one had only two terminals, and had to be replaced. If yours has four terminals it should be OK. Worth noting that when in use, the switch has the plunger depressed when pedal is released, so sense of terminals is opposite to the out of box state.
Sorry for any confusion.

Doing things in a different sequence today, I have got to this point.
Engine idling.
Still can't get CC light on dash to illuminate, yet switch shows as being on (on MES) when pressed.
Still no errors.
EML still illuminated.
