Technical P0089 fault code Fiat punto 1.3 multijet diesel 2015

Hi Guys,

I just had a 2000 km road trip and all was fine. When I returned I filled my fuel tank.

After 2 days as I was driving, the car suddenly shook and the check lamp turned on.

2 problems showed up. The first was starting the car, I have to keep cranking longer before it turns on. The socond problem is loss of power. Once the rpm reaches 2000 almost no speed in added.

The diagnostic showed error P0089 which is something in fuel pressure. I changed the High Pressure pump and it solved the starting problem. Now it starts fine but once I reach around 3000 rpm the car shakes and the check lamp turn on.

I turn off and on the couple couple of time the check lamp goes away and if I reach 3000 rpm it come back.

What could be causing the problem???

Possibly fuel blockage in the filter or water. I would change the fuel filter and examine the fuel drained out of it for water or dirt etc. It may be necessary to clean out the fuel tank if contaminated .
