So here we are just finished replacing the timing belt on my 1.4 v8 vvt used the loking tools to lock up the engine before replacing it after replacing it hand turned and seems find once built back up fires up ran ok for a few moments then gets lumpy and won't go over 4.5k reset all the setting and relearnd with snap on tool and still no joy any idea thanks

I suppose the first thing I'd do would be to recheck the timing by seeing if the crank and cam locking tools slot in ok. Bit of a "drag" timewise but at least then you know you're starting with things mechanically right.

Did you slacken the cam sprocket holding bolt as recommended? If so, and anyway even if your timing tools confirm the timing to be correct I'd be betting that what you now need to do is a "Phonic Wheel Relearn" which can be best done with either Multiecuscan or the Fiat dealer tool. This procedure reteaches the ECU the relationship between the cam and crankshaft position sensors which may have altered slightly due to the new belt or changes that have come about due to the cam sprocket retaining bolt having been slackened.
