Technical Oxy and Lambda Sensors

Hi all

What do these Oxy and Lambda sensors actually do?

and how much do they cost?

Assess the mixture of gasses in the exhaust so the ECU can adjust the fuel/ air mixture for optimum performance. A new one can cost from £20 upwards.

The evaluation by the Lambda sensor of the oxygen content in the exhaust does not only give a clue to the fuel consumption. It helps to keep the cat alive and can help even preventing engine damage.

Oxygen and Lambda sensor are the same.

Both economy and performance - when it fails the car ends up overfuelling and this causes a loss of performance.

When I changed mine, 5K ago I didn't reset the ECU, should I have?
Should I do it now? Does it affect fuel consumption or anything else?
