Hello.

I am a new member and i am posting on behalf of my girlfriend.

We have a 2002 Seicento Sporting that keeps overheating. So after a lot of looking and searching on the forum we took at a look at the car and found that after a good run (and we could see the coolant bubbling away in the tank) the fan wasn't on.

So i checked the seicento TIS (technical something lol) CD that we brought off ebay a while ago and it shows the fan switch on the right hand side (looking from the front) about half way up the radiator. Although we had a look and there didn't appear to be anything there, did something change on the later models?

But anyway, we decided to test the fan itself and put 12v on the fan and it wasn't firing up, nothing from it. So does this mean the fan will have failed? If so what kind of prices should i be looking at, for the part and/or the labour?

And any other advice/tips will be great.

Thanks.

Yeah, her dad took at look at the fuse previously and said it had blown, so replaced it. Although that didn't solve it.

Thanks for your reply.

I remember him telling me that the one he replaced was behind the battery, so i believe it was the correct one.

Check to see if it has blown again. Possibilities (if it has) are a wiring fault (possibly the positive lead to the fan shorting out) or the fan being fubared. So, test the fan. I think the fan units on all Sei and Cinq are interchangeable, so a visit to the scrappy could save a few quid. Get them to test it before handing over any money!

Sorry about the late reply.

We are going to try and find a local scrap yard with a seicento in. I got a few questions:
1. Are they the same on all seicentos?
2. How easy and what is the procedure to take the fan off?

Thanks for the help guys.

As far as I know the fan units on Sei and Cinq are identical, so you should have plenty of choice -- like I say, test the old one first and a "new" one before you pay for it!

Basically, it's on a bracket mounted to the rear of the rad, 3 bolts, I think?

Will be on the CD somewhere, but as you'll have discovered, it can be a swine to find stuff.

MPI and SPI fan mounting brackets are different but the fans them selves are the same, also it's not too hard to swap the fans over.
