Hey, recently when I've been driving long distances, then come to very slow moving traffic ques, my thermostat gauge will go right up to almost the red, thankfully I've been able to get moving again where the gauge will slowly drop back to normal temperature. Today I checked the coolant level, this seams to be fine, but the fan does not come on even when it's shown as in the red. Is this normal? Any ideas anyone? Driving in normal trafic is fine, just when in ques, I own a 1.2SX 2001. Many thanks, Gary

Re: fan

Could you tell me what the fan relay is and how I could check it please?

Re: fan

Did it again today and it wasn't even warm outside :( No ideas anyone? Gary

Re: fan

My 1.2 has been like that for 2yrs now. Still not been able to sort it. Turn the heater on full when the temp is starting to rise (number 4 on hot). It may be like a sauna in your car but it keeps the temp down under the bonnet

Re: fan

Thanks, will have to try that aswell as turning the engine off if the traffic gets too bad, a little worried as I'm driving To Leeds Festival on Thursday, can imagine traffic into the place being awful :( Cheers, Gary

Re: fan

Next time it starts to overheat can you open the bonnet and check if the bottom of the radiator is warm.
