Does this sound familiar to anyone? (03 Multipla 1.9 JTD) a few months ago on the motorway the heater got a bit cool, then the warning came on. Called out the RAC but by then all was normal. Got home and had the car checked out and a new thermostat fitted. All was well for a while, now it's back. Usually when it's working hard up a hill, the warning light suddenly comes on and it beeps to stop immediately. Switching off and back on cures it and the temp guage comes down to normal. The mechanic from the local garage got it to do it but said the engine was not hot so it's a sensor guage thing presumably. His diagnostics couldn't find a thing, he's as confused as I am. Help. I love my car but there are a few niggles spoiling it for me, the airbag warning is always on too. Simon

Hi
I have only just bought my multipla & joined thr forum i dont know about your over heating problem but there is a key hole in the driver side glove box that enabils & disabils the air bag
When the air bag is disabiled the light stays on
When the air bag is enabiled the light comes on only for a few seconds
Hope this helps. Kev.

Italian electrics - you don't expect it to work all the time do you!

I occasionally get random warnings and they are just that. Not sure why it has these occasional fits but it does get worrying now and again with the 'turn off engine and contact dealer' messages.

I would suggest the temperature sender unit is playing up.I'ts easily accessible on the cooling system pipe just to the left of the battery, shouldnt cost much to change, worth a try.

That sounds like a good suggestion I'll have a look over the weekend and see what I can do. I used to do a lot more but then cars got more complicated and unless you know what you're about you can really screw things up! The airbag is another matter, a quick look at the forum shows how common a problem it is, and yes it is switched on. Trouble is the older I get the more risk averse I get. I wouldn't have given a monkeys about airbags a few years ago, now I want one that works.
