OT. Virtual Memory too low.

hi all, i have a 2.4ghz celeron, 512ram laptop, when i have photoshop and illustrator open it runs really slow and a warning comes up saying virtual memory too low. why is it doing this? is there any way of fixing it?

Win2k or XP?

right click "my computer" and select properties.

Win2k

Advanced --> Performance Options, find virtual memory setting and press change. You should be able to change it now.

XP

Advanced --> Settings (under the performance section) --> Advanced, press change under the virtual memory setting.

Raise the maximum to 1024 and see how that helps. Otherwise let the system manage it.

^^ As Rob said. Photoshop and Illustrator also have a scratch disk setting that they use for something.
