Right, I belive that I am not in the wrong for this...

Where I live, there is one space in between yellow lines and a restricted zone that is technically okay to park in. I've seen people fined in this spot before. Anyway, I got a letter in the post today saying that because I didn't pay a fine issued on 15/11/06, I now have to pay £60. This is the first I knew of this! You're supposed to get a slip on your window informing you and giving you 30 days to pay a reduced fine.

As I didn't get this, I can't be 100% sure where I was parked, but I can be 90% sure.

Do you think I'll be able to get off?

Most traffic wardens carry cameras with then now, so that when they stick a ticket on your car, they have proof that it was on there.

They do this now due to people taking tickets off without the owners knowledge...

Ask them for any evidence that there was a ticket on there originally... if they have a 'dated' photo, then it's pay up I would think..

What if someone else took it off after they took the photo? Then it's not my fault, and it's not their fault too. Where would it go from then?

No offense but you obviously know your at fault here, i would just pay up. Your trying to get out of paying for something you did. The fine will keep on increasing until you pay up. I would of paid the £30 fine straight away.

I'm 90% sure I am NOT at fault. But as I did not recieve a ticket on the car on the date that it happend, I could not complain straight away. Now one month down the line, I can't prove that I was parked where I was.

I did not receive any notification untill today for something that happend over a month ago.

I was NOT given chance to pay just the £30 as by the time I knew it had already past.

Can you explain why you think I'm at fault?

Cheers.

letter

write a letter back to them stating you didn't get a ticket on your window.

Ask them to supply a copy of the ticket issued or some other evidence of you parking there.

Say once this is supplied then you will be happy to pay the £30 fine (not the £60!!) as the good citizen you are etc.

Yeah, that's looking to be the best option. I think I'll ask to see if they have any photos of where I was parked. Because I'm almost certain they will have fined me when I was in an alright spot. It's just a bit of a bad time, I've just took the car off the road because I can't afford it, now this!

Oh well!
