Sorry to post on here but some of you are very good with computers, and i am not great. so here goes

i am trying to burn a 3gb file onto a dvd, the file is in a DVD recognisable format. but im getting the following message and i have no idea what it means. And also the FAQ and help sections on Nero are really useless.

Thanks

it looks like your trying to burn in image on the disk (by image i mean a bootable ISO disk, when people rip dvds to post on the net they create ISO files which is a copy of how the disk reads, not a picture :)) if you want to burn a playable dvd try using the create a video dvd in start smart, or if you want to burn it as data, use the create a data dvd option.

hope this helps

which version of nero is it?

rich

i have Nero startsmart version 1,0,1,21 and Nero burning rom version 6,3,1,17.

i go to start smart select dvd, then burn dvd video disk, but it wont accept the file if its over 2gb, i have burnt smaller files to dvd and they play fine.

:(

are they geniune programes or free-ware, cause they might have a restriction on them!

otherwise go to mini-nova.org and download the big daddy, full nero 6 deluxe suite (with serial),

contains
start smart
burning rom
wave editor
cover creater
plus a loads more that i cant remember cause i'm at work!

or i can try post the torrent when i get home

Use Clone DVD 2 and a side app called AnyDVD and you can copy anything, however restricted.

I would recommend DVDShrink. If is freeware and will copy a VOB file and make a DVD for you. Best thing is it will copy DVDs and let you remove things like the Croatian soundtrack so you can fit a movie on a smaller DVD than the orginal

I don't much like Nero for DVDs

DVD shrink is ok for this project, indeeeeed, but when it comes to 'duplication' of.. lets say... a sony protected DVD (purely an example, i would NEVER dream of endorsing 'actual' piracy.. never.. honest guv..) something like Clone2 and AnyDVD combined will even duplicate your pet cat.. if you tried hard enough..

If you switch to Nero Burning ROM (click the side arrow on the Nero Smartstart screen), instead of Express, you can then select DVD UDF format which will allow more than 2gb files.

hope this helps...
