OT - fast 1.3

don`t like the look of em, but any 1.3 jap engine is usually quick, i had a suzuki swift gti 1.3, 100bhp, and light, best of all i could keep up with most of the powerful sports cars, and dependin what was behind me i could loose cars behind on bends too :),

I had a GTI swift aswell, and it was very quike eat XR2/3 every time,i had a xr2 before and after the swift.

Even the 1.0 or was it 1.1 was bloody fast they had the same rip as the sub justy, with the digi dash, strange gearing in them just seemed to keep going 62mph in second gear they could do.

Not news to me.
My 'other' car is a small 2003 Daihatsu Cuore, (same chassis as the old Sirion) I bought from new - even smaller than 1.3 Sirion/Yaris engine, (989cc) but has 3 cylinders with counter-balance, VVT, 4 valve head, sequential injection, e.tc. - if anything, slightly more advanced than the 5 cylinder 2.0 VIS unit in the Marea.

Was my main daily driver until I needed a bigger car. I've 'given' it to the missus, as I did'nt want to part with it:)

0-60 in 12.5 seconds and 93MPH flat-out dos'nt sound very exciting, but it pulls eagerly and overtakes much quicker than you'd expect - always more hilarious to 'scalp' someone in their bigger and 'obviously' more powerfull car
- light weight and very sharp brakes also help alot.

Another piece of trivia - The latest city car from PSA and Toyota, (the trendy but awful C107Aygo sisters) all have the same 1.0 litre engine, which is actually a Daihatsu unit, as fitted first to the current Sirion, (2005-.)
Although PSA ignore this fact and Toyota pretend it's one of their engines, (which in a way it is, but only because they own Daihatsu)

looked around last year for an ae86 but only found 2 for sale and both were over 7 grand lol just love those cars , a 1.6 that did 60 in 7.1 and whent to 130mph but got there dam quick, and rear wheel drive lol there have been people put that engine in the corolla gti and get 6.5 to 60 and they even did a supercharged version lol of the engine that is not corolla lol

I think the cheapest way to get one is to import from japan tbh.

There's a couple of AE86 Levin's on ebay at the moment. I'd want the Trueno though :p

You ever seen the tv show Initial D?

i love most jap cars but the insurance is always quite high. but my next car is a starlet 1.3 gt turbo. 0-60 in around 6.9 secs. 133bhp standard and easy to tune to 200bhp which the clutch can handle.and for some reason cheaper then my 1.2 bravo to insure.

life is to short to look back

i haven;t got the money just jet.lol. and i need to wait till feb for my 1 years no claim. i have already had offers for my car which i am tempted by. someone offered me 1800 for it and i only paid 1675 about 2 months ago.
