I put money on the burnt one weighing more due to the change in its molecular structure...o_O

All of this amazing scientific potential from a domestic DVD recorder.
Wow!

Tell you what Smee, do it using a thousand blank DVD's. Weigh them before burning, burn them and the reweigh all 1000 to be able to even detect the weight difference.

That'll keep you busy for a few months.

keep me busy for a few hours i think we got 12 dvd burners at work stick that in ur pipe and smoke it

Why not stick it in your burner and weigh it?

Smee i bet you a pint at the christmas party it will weigh the same. Come on lad lets hear the results.....

ooo i actually wanna hear the answer . lets hear it come on

after carefully checking the storage cupboard for dvd's we didnt have many left. BUT a shed load of cd-rw so thought id give them ago instead. a blank weights in at 15.9grams so i swapped them over for 1 with 700mb on and its up. 16.1 grams. not satified on a fiar test i rest using other cd's.

once again 15.9 went to 16.1. now im still un sure so to make it super fair. i weight a blank. 15.9 and then burn it and then let it cool down and re weight it 16.1

well its amazing wat u can learn in the afternoon.

if im not busy tomorrow ill bring dvd-rw cds from home.

OEM prices of 4x, 8x DVD discs drop to below cost 1:01PM
Anticipating that 16x DVD+R/-R discs will soon become the mainstream optical-disc product, leading optical-disc makers have begun lowering OEM quotations for 8x DVD+R/-R discs to US$0.30 and for 4x DVD+R/-R discs to US$0.22-0.24, which is lower than production cost for other makers as the price of the key component polycarbonate (PC) has been driven up to US$3.1 per kilogram, according to Taiwan optical-disc makers.
OEM prices for 16x DVD+R/-R discs are currently higher than US$0.50, and demand for the discs will begin picking up as 16x DVD burners become mainstream products, the makers indicated. Therefore, leading makers have begun to clear their inventory of 8x and 4x discs by lowering prices, the makers added.

If OEM prices for 8x and 4x DVD+R/-R discs remain at their current low level, some makers will not be able to reach a break-even point until the price of PC falls to US$2.6 per kilogram, the makers said. However, the price of PC is unlikely to fall to that level before the end of the first quarter of 2005, the makers estimated.
