That's what they're saying yep. I think there are some other issues as well which they've not mentioned yet. I really do genuinely hope that Fiat lose money on my car. They deserve to go out of business for such silly penny pinching. Dampers dying at 36k miles? Wtf?

Maxi what roads have you been driving on!? haha
you know before my warranty expires i was thinking of taking my car to an indie friend dealer and ask him everything wrong with the car that i may be able to convince the main dealer to fix under warranty. so far my main dealer has fixed the battery, gearbox seal and silicon hose pipe under warranty without any fuss so they seem inclined to fix as they make money from it anyway.

i dont get why the suspension parts are so crappy on the 500

my Bravo is now on 66k and all the suspension is still fine

worth asking them for vouchers in lieu of replacing parts?
Well, I'm probably just going to keep the suspension bits myself and sell them on ebay and then try and get some vouchers out of Fiat :p

Cripes, was it only 4 months ago I was on 36k miles and did its last service? 42,735 on it now. About 2.5k of that was driving down to Turin and back via Switzerland and Germany.

A little update.

Nothing's really gone majorly wrong since then other than the front tyres being cooked after the strut tops were changed and the tracking put out...... Almost 3k miles done since then and the fronts are wearing evenly again.

Thought for some reason that I was closer to 44k miles so ordered some oil filters and air filters and was planning to do an oil change and do the plugs and filters at the same time but I'll leave that for another 2k miles or so. Be good for the engine to have some nice clean oil running through it for the winter. Oil is still fairly clean and the air filter is very clean too. Can't find the right ratchet handle to fit the spark plug socket so couldn't take the plugs out for a look.

Last winter I noticed that the passenger side mirror wasn't heating up so I got a replacement in the mail today from S4P and fitted it and it's now working fine. Not sure what's up with the old one but at 14 odd pounds and a few minutes to fit, it it's neither here nor there :)

If anyone wants the passenger side mirror they can have it for whatever it costs to send.

What an epic thread :)

I'm amazed by how many miles you have covered in your 500... What does that seat look like these days?

-Alex
Seat has arse prints in it, but not as bad IMHO and the leather isn't wrinkling like it did last time. If it starts going the same way I might see if I can get a new leather interior on Ebay with the newer style leather on the seat cushion.

A slightly boring post. Filled up with fuel last night. Car was averaging 60mpg when I parked it home. Garage is 4 miles from home and the wifes drive to work and back was a mile each way. Car arrived back home doing 43mpg. I can't even be bothered doing the math on how rubbish that is. I just don't get how she drives so uneconomically in that car :bang: She'll get in in the morning and start the car, then do her seatbelt up, make sure the mirrors are all good and so on, she'll accelerate just before corners and then brakes  I just don't get it at all! I've taken the car out and thrashed it and got better economy than that!

You have explained the 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th gear options to her?

Used to have one myself (sigh...) - know exactly what you mean!

Also, the more you revved, the more warmth you could coax out of the heater. A great incentive not to change up on a cold day.

Your car still looks good in the best color imho:) ,(y)and a great photo of the scenery where you live !

:)

I'm lucky to live in a very nice part of the UK :)

This is what our street looks like in the winter :) During the autumn the woods on the hillside turn all sort of fantastic colours.

I always get slightly confused when people ask me why I moved from Australia to the UK :)
