Opera browser users

Opera browser users

I agree Sotfwarez, can't vouch for it on programming as i'm clueless there, but i think those home users have different views to us who are in the IT industry.

Mind you, in work, i am not affected by viruses/pop-ups due to the corprate Firewall.

didn't mean that Helz!!! esecially as one of the senior techs i went to for advice when first starting out was a woman!

What i meant from home users as to "Industry" was those who just use a PC at home and those of us who work on them be that at home or work.

This quote from you seems spot on (seems, as i haven't looked at opera properly yet)
"lot of people don't like when they start because they have to do serious work to set it up. If you like something out of the box it's not for you. If you like something fully customisable then it's the best. If anyone wants a list of what they might want their options set to please let me know It's not just tabbed browsing it's the (again customisable) search bar, customisable toolbar, cookie manager, pop-up manager, email facility, little pop-up information bubbles, keyboard shortcuts, loading statistics, skins, cache manager, security manager. Did I miss anything?"

Lots of people are in the idea that it all comes working and so when they have to do something they get stuck!! Shame there are not more people willing to spend the time to look at something.

I have had a short look but did not try anything much as i have no time in work, deploying 15 PC's by tuesday!!! So i will try again soon.

Softwarez, don't know if it's the same for you, but some of my collegues in the apps dep won't help if you use anything but IE???? Any reason for this as i use Mozilla for this, and use work apps via IE. would like to cut down to one.

HEY HELZ

so whats opera like compared to firefox then better?? im no fan or mr gates and anything i can do to help bankrupt him i will! im no stranger to customizing my browser thats why i like firefox but if opera is better ill go for it just dont want to spend weeks getting rid of it! ;)

and theres a few video plugins that dont work too i think ill give it a bash tonight thanks folks!

ok, already bored with it

I can't stand the fact the first tab can be closed?! I don't want to close it. That little red X is annoying :( Can I fix this?

EDIT- I'm not really liking the drop-down bit of the address bar... can that be customised?

EDIT-EDIT- sorted the address bar, now only need to sort the red X on the first tab...

carlos1981 what do you mean the App department wonr help unless I.E? what work do they do? and i can answer it.

Heres something you all didnt know..

FireFox..Opera etcetc.. NSBrowsers are unhealthy.

People have more advantage of getting your eprsonal information rather than from I.E.. i could explain.. but it goes into detail.. but to put into normal terms.. I.E prevents most intruders. whereas opera people can easily obtain most information form your comp (it's how tis all linked into eachother through the numerous dll's.. it reads them.. and they finally lnik up to your Data.. Very unsafe, but most normal users cant see this :D

Yes they do use the various files, which is what makes them so customisable because you can amend what you need to and Opera picks up on it eg. search files. But a lot of the loopholes have been closed, very few people bother exploiting a vuln that affects very few people and the data you can gain is limited - one or two pieces of a jigsaw is not enough to put the whiole thing together. That is if they can get in in the first place if you're not firewalled/ routered up. And use of your cookie manager and the fact that you're not using IE means there are fewer trackers etc. trying to get in in the first place.

Nice of you to present a balanced view.

Pah! None of this Windows based shenanigans! Konqueror is where it's at!
Internet Explorer is OK, but needs to be patched up to the hilt to make me feel even slightly secure. I do miss tabbed browsing though. And it doesn't matter that it's coming in IE7, it doesn't have it NOW. Also, if it has trouble auto detecting its proxy settings, it sits there for about a minute, totally unresponsive (this is in the corporate environment).
Firefox is generally good, but I struggle to see how it can use up 200MB of RAM.... If you install an add-in, you can use mouse gestures, which are cool.
Opera, I've never used.
A while back, I had the joy(!) of installing Windows NT. This gave me the chance to use Internet Explorer 1.0 - Total rubbish!

I used to be a bad boy at one point.. the few R.A.T's ehre and there  So i know weakness's and strong points. And trust me, any expert will tell you, stay with I.E. and on Opera it's so easy to simply go on a site.. and get a hook put through it without you or the browser even realising.. while as I.E.. if it was attempted I.E would give an error.. and close up not allowing it.. i can go on.. theres many security breaches.. and Ohh yess :p alot of people 'do' bother :D have a look at some websites, you will pickup on Opera etc etc browsers. (Check out the black bible of h*c*k*n*g etc) lala :D I have my reasons for only using I.E and Yahoo Broswer (y)
