Technical Oops

Sorting a bit of rust, so took out the battery tray, and got a wee surprise.

Other than the obvious, am I correct that the displaced bush is part of the clutch release mechanism?

I know it shouldn't be like this, but dafty here eased the rubber back into the joint.

Not got an educated ferret to assist, so any help appreciated.

There are new bolts in the battery tray, so hopefully just a at work.

You have replaced the earth strap? Just you can see the severed end of it

Think that was the old earth. The holding nut looks inaccessible other than from above and appears long discarded. There is another substantial earth wire which I'll check to ground.

If in doubt you can always add an extra earth cable !

Good ground to engine block .

Found another oops protruding from a hole in the bulkhead behind the brake lines. Looked like a drain grommet solid with muck. Think it belongs in the hole but which way ?

Could be previously knocked in rather than cleared?

its the duck bill drain that takes water from the scuttle panel!- it just pushes back in- the lip in the photo holds it in the hole, theres two of em one on each side! -check the other side as well!

Which direction should the bill point and is the slot underneath ?

Slots in the bottom of the scuttle underneath access via engine bay check the other side to see direction but as i recall the drains point in towards the centre of the car!

Thanks, I can see the NS drain hole through the panel grill.

I write mine on loo -roll handy for when the expense of the next job scares the C**p outa me!

Had a look and second bill choked. Held up by engine bay liner. Must have been easier to dislodge than clean.

All good . The bills are identical so easy replace later from the drain side.
