Wow that sounds pretty good, way better than mine, thats what I was aiming for and got allmost silence. I will have to pull some baffles. Is it a race can you put on or what? Mine to is mothballed for a time, will do some bits indoors but like you I want it ready for summer so as soon as it starts to warm I'll finnish off. :) Steve

chap said they was a pair of these fitted to a locost, but he sold one on ebay for £36 when he promised me it, then he foned and said he had another for which i got for £25.

need to lift it a bit more yet but need to fit a rubber dangly thing for movement when properly finished...

Oh and just noticed dripping from the rad, i know a chap that has a few rads from fiats and lancias so will get in touch after new year and see what he has.

merry xmas and speak in new year if not before.

kevin

Yes it is a 2wd rad, the original from the onyx was a shorter in width than the donor which is wider, had to re weld the brackets to accomodate.

as you can see by the picks in previous post, its a big rad on at moment cos its a 998 engine not a 750 so hence fitted the bigger rad.

mind you i gotta fit the fan yet.....

kevin

Thanks for the offer, will leave it till after new year and get back in touch if thats ok to see if you still have it available. cheers bud.

The heater that was in the car was a mini unit,I've still got it. But I have replaced it with one from a v.w. polo. again its self contained matrix and 3 speed fan, small but light and it seems pretty powerfull. I will work out the ducting when I do the interior. It has a tap to stop or slow the water flow which I think will be usefull. But a bit more complex to fit than the mini one. Wishing everyone a happy christmas, all the best folks Steve:):):)

Not really done much of late far to cold. How are the sills going Kevin? I have at last got a screen, thats the last major part that I needed to complete the build. I have extended the bit that fit between the bonnet and door as the gap I felt was too big. Taken pics will post them when I've finnished them.I tyhink getting the screen to fit properly is not going to be easy. That why they look a bit of a mess on other fireflys.

Well i done a fair bit really.

Welded some square tubing in at rear to hold the rear 3 point harness(drilled hole with bolt) also taped up the wiring and 'P' clipped to chassis at rear, fitted radiator as donor was leaking(got a full set of pipes from scrappers for a fiver) fitted 8" new slimline fan, horne fitted along with the little coil type thingy for lights.

also undid the welding to sills, gonna fit body then reasses the sills after.

biggest job done was i re made the metal door frames and painted black, just got to fit to the hinges next week as i am doing the heater matrix so it can be fitted then engine/cooling finished.

next job is to fibreglass the area where rear lights go( was trying to find some MK1 seirra lights to fit but cant find any so looking at MK2 type) going to fit these as a thought
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-REAR-95...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3368e1630c

but thats way down the list yet as i need to fix a hole in the bonnet with fibreglass as well but its too cold do it yet.

will post some more picks this weekend how it looks so far.

was it a 126 screen.....

I think round rears would look good there must be some fiat ones around why not look at them. I have fitted some stiffning bars to my doors to brace the hinges as they seem a bit weak. The boot section of the car sits on top of the sills so you might have to be a bit creative if you put that on before the sills. The screen I've bought is a 126 hope its right have paid for it but can't collect till next week. Once the screens in I can finnish a lot more things, was a real hold up not having it.:) Steve

my sills are fitted, its just where they meet the floor pan underneath i spot welded, now un-spot welded and have a few dents to try and pull out, not sure how yet...

well here are a few more pick i done so far.

door frames, engine bay and just the rear and heater matrix refurb

Well i tried to fit the passenger door frame back in with the door attached, lines up really well...UNTILL i fitted the rear body to check the shut lines and all ove the place, fettled about for an hour and the catch is touching the rear body......Darn blast, this is not going to be fun...

kevin

I had the same problem, thats why I had to extend the bits in front of the doors, I filed out the hinge holes to give me more adjustment then lined up the back of the doors with the body dry fitted. This gave me good shut lines at the back but a great big one at the front, so I'm now extending the posts at the front of the doors to get even shut lines. Will put some pics up, it's difficult to describe. Steve.

well i will be back on to doing the doors this week as i was away this weekend.

what can i use to hold the door frame in the fibre glass whilst on the car after i line it all up, i mean like some kind off filler so i can remove after its set so i could rivit the door to frame after i remove from car and it wont move whilst i do it,

cheers kevin

i think this could be the breaking point for LOL...

Hi Kevin I use 3M carpet and flooring tape to hold bits into position. Its very strong, might need warming in cold weather as the heat helps it stick. I use it for all sorts of things. You can remove it with acetone but you might just be able to rivit up and leave it there. Steve:)

well door frames in without covers, seems i have to grind out the old filla on the doors that will give me more play to set the doors on the frame better....uuuuuuuuuuuuuu so close to get there but still lots to do......if its dry this weekend i might be tempted to have a spin up the street n back...mmwwwaarrgghhh...i live in a quite cul de sac....

kevin

Yea mine had a few copper extentions in it as I got it. I have the opposite problem now and have to shorten the heater piper as I am mounting it closer to the front bulkhead due to the shape of the new heater. I have to admit I turned the car around in the garage so had to go out on the hill where I live, also a cull de sac. The car fairly lept out of the garage. Very encouraging. Thought I was being gentle and still spun the wheels. Tick over is a bit high thats my excuse, new clutch aswell, bit sharp. Magic moment. ;) Steve

nice one steve.

i just gotta connect the 2 pipes up to copper pipe then can fill the system and fire it up....then maybe if weather fine might jaunt up the road n back.hahaha

not been able to do owt this week as my mother in law died last night so been at hospital since monday...

but will crackon this weekend rather than mope around...take the pickies n stuff.

kevin

Oh dear, very sorry to hear about the mother in law, my deepest condolences to you and the family. I can understand how it feels. Probably is best to do something but getting your mind staight to do it is another thing. Best wishes to you all. Steve.
