Right, i need to purchase some Urethane adhesive for my windshield, also i will use this to stick the rear fibrglass to the metal body parts when final fitting....

thing is i cant find a supplier to get the darn stuff.......its a night mare to remove cos i gatta remove the pre existing stuff first.......

kevin.

I've had some stuff called Tiger seal recommended to me by a couple of bodywork people, haven't tried it myself yet though. It should be available from a good motor factors.

I've used silkaflex throughout my car seems good stuff goes on better when it's a bit warm, spreads better. For sticking the glass panels on use double sided carpet tape 3m stuff works well. You don't need to remove it just rivit in once you've positioned correctly. Thanks for the windscreen fitting tips guys will use them. Steve:)

Hi all, i need of a front windshield rubber for the fiat 126 seeing as my onyx uses that i believe...

can you get a universal one or does it have to be the specific make n model..

steve......did you replace yours and if so where did you get the rubber from...

thanks all as i feel this could be an expensive dealer purchase or trying to find rocking horse dudu...

kevin

Hi Kev sorry been a bit busy so not been on forum for a little while, Yes might be able to help with the screen rubber, I've got a brand new one plus the one that came with the screen. Think I'll use the one that came with the screen as its in pretty good condition. So if you still want the new one let me know. Cheers Steve;)

steve, is your screen flush with the edge of fiber glass or is the screen bigger than the the it....

if i rest my screen on frame then its bigger and sits on the frame about 1/4 inch all way round, if i use a rubber then might have to trim the fibreglass to fit the rubber.....

else i could bond it on but a bit messy....

any help would be great, i will take a pick of my screen resting on frame and post it.

kevin

Yes, I've got the same, I know exactly what you mean. I've put some more glass mat on the back of the screen seround to repair what had broken when the screen was removed and add a bit more strength. Then it's my intention to put the screen on top of the frame sticking it with double sided carpet tape draw around it about 3mm bigger than the screen, cut out to this line with a belt sander carefully. this should the enable the screen to be fitted back with the rubber seal. I hope, started to do it now. Fingers crossed. :(Steve,

let me know how you do.....

got the doors fitted now, just a few rivits on side n bottom should see it completed.

just started to board out the rear then i can check the light fitting, fit the number plate light and fix the bit i cut out for tank then its ready for fitting permanently.....uuuu so close but so far.....

kevin

dash and bonnet to do yet and hide the electrics at front..fit the hand brake switch and brake pedal switch yet...

Steve, what size headlights are yours, i need to get some new ones cos the slver inside mine has started to lift plus the bezals are knaff...

The headlights are 7inch old mini units replaced one of mine new from a local classic mini dealers. Pretty easy to get. Got the screen into the frame, make the hole 3mm bigger than the screen itself this fits well. But then found when I put the whole unit back on the car the rivit holes would'nt line up. Bol****.!! Seems I've made one side slightly thicker than the other when I re glassed the frame. I have to sand back one side a bit. Terrified I'll break the screen now. Oh by the way don't use sillicone to make the windscreen slide into the rubber as any reglassing or paint you put on afterwards will be rejected, use washing up liquid as that evaporates. Still struggling on Steve.

when I put the whole unit back on the car the rivit holes would'nt line up.

what rivit holes are these to do with screen steve.

well i just finished boarding the rear out, just need to water proof with bitumen paint, then i can carpet it and fit the rear for good......uuuu exciting....

will deffo bring to a meet if not too far unless i bring it on a trailer LOL...

kevin

I've refitted the screen to the glass fibre frame off the car on mine the frame was glued and rivited to the metal screen frame that is welded to the chassis. I just assumed yours was the same. Maybe not, I'll post some pics will be a lot clearer then. It is certainly my intention to do some meets. I guess like Kevin the distance will be how much faith I have in the car, I think it might take a bit of time before I trust it that much. Would love to meet some like minded folks I feel a bit on my own here in the sticks. The village nutter that lives in the garage!! :bang:Steve.

yes mine the same, its rivited to the metal frame..

i did go to some meets up here in the north when i had the Fiat 125...

like steve said, its a trust in your own work thing and distance, i visit my sister in Hereford a few times a year so could bring it down on a trailer first..LOL

will c as i have it booked in the Bradford Classic car show in august so must get crackin on for that...

kevin

Well done Kevin, proper rolling chassis, big land mark. Sounds ace. The differences between our cars are quite noticable from that vid, the rear of yours is completely different. Mine has non of the sheet infill its just a frame work that the boot section plus glassfibre arches and boot floor glue and rivit on to. Your engine sits higher than mine also, mine is so low that ground clearance might be a problem, have yet to see. :slayer: Keep up the good work. Steve
