Since I've managed to break the Brava (yet again) by driving too fast over a speed bump and killing the exhaust, I'm not really happy about driving it until it gets a new one. My insurance company have saved the details of the Cinq and are all ready to go and start insuring it BUT it will of course take a few days for the paperwork to come through. And I'll need that to buy tax from the post office. So has anyone taxed online and if so, how do they determine if your car is insured or not?

When you apply for a tax disc on their website or using their telephone service, the vehicle’s insurance is electronically checked with the Motor Insurance Database (MID), run by the Motor Insurers Information Centre (MIIC).

The new style MOT Test Certificates are also checked electronically via a link to the computerised MOT Test Certificate Database.Only Customers with a new style MOT Test Certificate or GVT Test Certificate are eligible to use thie service.

A new style MOT Test Certificate is larger than the old MOT Test Certificate and has printed rather than hand-written details.

Hope this answers your question!!!

:)
