this probably wont go down well but in my opinion the panda is a very ugly car.Not sure if i could sacrifice looks for performance as it is an excellent car to drive especially the 100bhp panda but i dont think i could bring myself to drive one.

the panda isn't really my cup of tea, but i wouldn't call it ugly. You've probably been comparing it to the bravo. at least the panda is practical and distinctive in a good way. personally out of the current fiat range i'd put it ahead of the Grande punto which just seems oddly out of proportion.

and the point of this thread is?

I'm not sure what response you are after posting this on the Panda section but if everyone liked the same it would be a boring world...

I personally think the 100hp is a cracking looker. its rollerskate appearance (is that a good thing?) brings a smile each time I see it. It is very well designed and the extra external bits the 100hp has makes it stand out from the pastel shade others.

it has some of the best looking alloys you have to agree.

The rear door window could merge into the rear side window a bit better I agree but then there is always something on any car that looks odd.

I love it. But then I purchased one so i must be biased.

May I be rude and ask what you drive? Now you tell me it is a masterpiece like a Zonda, Miura, AM V8 or 599...

As they say, in a democracy, you are entitled to express your opinion. (It's just that you are in the minority:).....)

Don't buy one then.

:yeahthat:

The absolute worse you can say about the Panda is that its styling is 'inoffensive'. I mean ugly? Have you seen a Chevrolet Tacuma, Porsche Cayenne or Daihatsu Media?

Much as love free speech, :sucks:

Have you ever heard of the phrase "form follows function" concerning architecture and industrial design?
The original and new Pandas are examples of extremely fine functional design in a car. They provide optimum passenger and/or luggage space and comfort within the smallest size of vehicle and provide highly economical transport. The "form" of the cars follows this and to my mind is a striking design that is far removed from mainstream design and all the better for it.
A lot of cars seem to be designed along the lines of "function follows form" in that a supposedly beautiful body shape is designed and then the engineers have to fit the mechanicals, passengers and luggage within that shape. I consider that supercars are the prime example of this, although Mercedes, BMW and some newer Vauxhalls follow similar principles. To my mind this philosophy produces some of the ugliest and definitely most unloveable vehicles on the road.

cheeky
distinctive
stylish
cute
well-proportioned

any of these words can be used to describe the panda but UGLY definitely isn't
for me, I wrote the panda off until i drove one - the character is infectious and so much fun and surely the communication between the car and the driver is what matters the most

The current Fiat Panda is obviously from the Stilo / Mk2 punto era. So compared to the Grande Punto and Bravo, it will look out of place.

Logically you'd think manufacturers would release their entire range at the same time. But no,

Just look at the ford KA, every other ford model that had the curvy design was either discontinued or replaced years ago. Infact, mondeo has had two major re-designs in the 11 years that the KA has remained pretty much the same.

Id be expecting a facelift Panda sooner or later.
