I have in front of me a PC - an Aopen MX3S motherboard, PIII CPU - that is beeping like crazy on start up...
Basically, that is all it does, long beep pause long beep pause. It is a Pheonix BIOS, and not a beep code that is on the list for POST.
When I remove everything from the mobo [all IDES, memory, PCI cards, gfx card, etc] I still get the type of beeping - yet when I remove the CPU, it stops.
So does this imply the CPU is blown? Or could the PSU be the issue [I still get a red light on the mobo though].
I don't want to spend too much time on it if it is FUBAR'd, plus I think my customer is keen on a newer machine anyway
but it would be nice to diagnose this properly.
Any advice greatly appreciated
EDIT - ok, it seems it is memory issues, removed both 256MB and put in a spare 128MB and now no beep code - diagnosed, hopefully...
