Stilo is the 1st FIAT FIAT I have owned... previously owned fakes:

1. Seat Marbella 850 Special - Spanish Panda :) 1st NEW car 24K in 17 months and only the washer plunger (no electric screenwash) replaced under warranty... traded for
2. Seat Malaga 1.5 GLX - Spanish Regatta / Prisma - 1.5 System Porsche engine :slayer: but 6 owners in 3 years from new, previous owner for just 6 months should have told me all I needed to know :bang: Scary fast for 1500 (unfeasably large carb... remember them?) but very fragile :yuck:
3. Yugo 45A - Recycled 127 - 0.9L  8 years cheap motoring and in the end no syncro on 2nd & faulty diff resulting in torque steer from 40ish BHP )
4. Yugo 55A - Ex Wifes Recycled 127 - 1.1L  wife assailed an MR2 with it... took forever to get replacement bonnet/bumper :bang:

My folks, who wouldnt touch FIAT in 70's / 80's (Alfa Sud in 78-80 put them off italian stuff me thinks!), Mum has had 55 Punto & now JTD Bravo and Dad persuaded me to by 1.6 16V 5dr Stilo by insisting I drive him to FIAT dealer in his... him now on 115 JTD Stilo MW (y)

P.S. Nearly bought biege 124 at 17 but insurance expensive! Uno 70 SX test driven but not offered right deal on it!

origional y reg early panda in mid eighties with slowly increasing up side, underseal line
l reg cinq sx in black that ended up lowered, alloys, supersprint backbox,kn in airbox with forced air ,airbox, and other mods both in and outside.loved it to death then bought sei that ive got now

the question one needs to ask is; what do you think of the old fiats?

Ive owned several oldies but my first fiat is a 132s 1800...ive got many probs iwth it but by throwing stupid amounts of money at it it will work sooner or later.

and get this, I bought it for $180 aussie dollars, around 70 or so pounds.

Do Polski Fiat's count in this ? I've owned 2 of these 125p 1500cc estates. A yellow 1977 R reg and a red 1982 Y reg. Despite all the jokes and bad press these cars had they were actually quite good workhorses if a bit heavy on fuel. I never had any problems and the bodywork on both was spot on. I still have the factory work shop manual somewhere gathering dust.

82' 127 Comfort (not much of that!, Very Noisy)
82' 126 (makes the 127 look like a limo)
84' Panda 45 (basic but economical and surprisingly good at distances)
86' Panda 1000cl (faster than other road user think :) )
86' Panda 4x4 (took it over the Walna Scar road in the lakes, mega fun(y) )
86' Strada Abarth with Thema Turbo engine (much, much faster than other road users think :) loved this car but so did some low life who nicked it, broke his back when he piled it into a barrier on the A38, deserved it:devil: )
88' Uno 45 (given it as 2nd car by Mother, fun but slow)
88' Uno 70 (sold the 45 and got this instead, good car)
89' Tipo 1.4 (superb engine, even better handling)
90' Tipo 1.6I (Injection robs the engine of character and power steering reduces feel, preferred the 1.4)
95' Cinc Sporting (change the tyres for Yoko 175/50/13 and it hugs the road better than a long lost friend, pity the missus stopped a Citylink coach with it :( )
99' Punto 75 SX (had to change the head gasket, ported the head at the same time, and since then has been a great little car)
98' Brava 1.8 ELX (Bought with 40k miles in perfect condition, cost £350 off Ebay, absolute bargain, handles well and the Alfa based engine is superb, doesn't rev like a SOHC but has good spread of torque. Performance and 38mpg hard to find a new car that will do the same:) )

Never been stranded at the side of the road in 20 years of Fiat ownership :)

Also had 2 Alfasuds, a Sprint and a 33; good fun but not as reliable as a Fiat. Love the flat 4, popping and banging on overrun:)

88' Lancia Integrale 8v (awesome but less space than an Uno)
87' Delta Turbo (overboosted so nearly as quick as an Integrale for 1/4 the price)
86' Y10 Turbo (favourite car of all time, fitted an Uno turbocharger, 14" rims, 185 tyres, Uno brakes, water/methanol injection, home made copper head gasket, and 24psi of boost. At 20psi boost it ran 167bhp at the wheels on a rolling road, so reckon on 180bhp with 24psi. Covered 35k miles in this state of tune before selling it, wish I hadn't sold it now:( :( )

Had a few company cars, Mondeo, Passat and Laguna; been stranded by everyone of them but fleet manager won't even consider a Fiat, idiot :bang:

I paid £46 for my '86 Uno in April 2003 (off Ebay). Have now done 25,000 miles since then, and the only thing that has gone wrong was the exhaust back box rusting off!

If 70's/ early 80's Fiat bodies weren't made of wet cardboard then I reckon they'd be one of the biggest European manufacturers now... They'd always been good mechanically, but it wasn't until the Tipo that they finally banished the rust bug for good.

*Goes off and dreams about unrusty 128/3p's and Strada Abarths*!

i own a fiat 127 mk1 which still has it' original engine! it never gave any problems and i am very proud of owning it.. only modification made was that from 903cc it has now over 1000cc! great car which i will continue restoring

hope that i will post some pics...

I had a '73 130 Coupé in 1975/76.

Beautiful car, lovely interior, a definitive 70s car. It was nothing like the 130 saloon, having a Pininfarina 2 door body. The V6 supposedly Ferrari engine with 3-speed auto box was capable of whizzing up to over 120 mph. It did 19 mpg now matter how I drove it.

I believe there were only ever a few hundred RHD models imported into the UK. I've not seen one for years. A stylish classic.

I've had a Fiat SuperMirafiori sport with twin cams in metallic powder blue, my parents had the basic MF saloon in yukky choccy brown with gold velour. Also had a Fiat 126 from new, 2 new Classic Panda's, and a Fiat X19.
