This may sound a silly question, but is there an electronic oil level check on the instrumentation for the Dublo, or is the oil checked via the dipstick?

On Mrs_G's JTD its a tradtional dipstick. I don't know if there's an electronic 'low oil' sensor as I alway keep the level between max and half way down towards min on the dipstick.

There is an oil low light on the dash I beleive, but it's not worth waiting for this to come on as damage could have already been done.
