I have a oil leak on the front of the engine, not severe, it doesn't even drip on the path but I'd like to cure it if possible.
It seems to be coming from above oil filter and the oil pump which I think is the silver item in the photo
There is a black item (circled in red) above the oil pump with pipes and tube connections and it seems to be coming from that area ?
I thought it was the intercooler pipes at first but they're ok
Any suggestions what the black item is and what could be leaking please ?
TIA

I am having difficulty orientating myself with your photo, and as my time is heavily circumscribed at the moment I am unable to investigate further.

To me the cast aluminium unit that you are using as a reference, seems more like the vacuum pump.

Is your "black" device part on the auxiliary assembly? If so please see attached extracts from eLearn, and Iveco manual. Please note that on the Iveco version, the oil filter is mounted vertically.

Thanks for the reply, the photo is taken looking up, the coolant rad is at the bottom of the photo and oil filter is just out of shot on the right below what you point out to be the vacume pump.
The oil leak seems to be above the vacume pump but I not sure what it is outlined in red in the photo.
I may be able to get to it to investigate by removing the intercooler pipes if it ever stops raining

Engine oil, not dripping on the ground just wetting the area around the 'black thing' in the photo, the vacume pump and oil filter.
I suppose it's not critical, but I like things working correctly so if it's a simple fix like a loose hose or duff seal, I'd like to fix it if I can

I'm a bit further on, from the top of the engine I removed the intercooler hoses and removed some of the dirt and oil from the 'black item' mentioned above,
It has a label Bosch CR/CP 1S3/R70/10
Google tells me this is the common rail high pressure diesel pump, so it looks like my leak may be diesel rather than engine oil ?
What are my options for curing the slight leak, if I ignore it what are the downsides please ?
One of the hoses goes to the brake servo which suprised me
TIA
