Just interesting thats all, according to that I could have used the oil from Wilkinson's (see first post) but as that is £3 more than the oil from ASDA and the ASDA oil is a higher spec I quite happy I didn't get it.
That page was already posted on post #41.I will post the page when I get to my home PC
I would like that as well.OK lets put this to bed (for our 500 anyway)
According to the hand book, Using products with features lower than ACEA C3 and ACEA C2 could cause engine damage. So as long as its 5w/30 and ACEA C2 or C3 its fine for our Multijet.
Also as long as its 5w/40 ACEA C3 its fine for the petrol engines.
If you look back on the number of problem threads that you started on the Marea why would you put your 500 MJ at risk for the sake of a few pounds.
As far as I'm concerned goat jizz is good enough for a multijet, doesn't mean it's actually the right oilWell as far as I'm consernded and Fiat ACEA C3 is fine for the multijet.
Asda oil meats the spec so I will and have been using it.
I wouldn't know what goat jizz feels like myself, interesting that you know what it feels like though.....bit sticky
Beastiality aside, my point still stands that just because you say something is the right grade doesn't mean that it actually ismisspent youth on the farm
Errr the handbook doesn't say it's OK to use C3 oil though.....very true, I could say it's OK to use lard, I could say it's OK to use wallpaper past BUT it's not me saying it's OK to use the ASDA oil.
The handbook say its OK to use a C2 or C3 oil.
The handbook says it's OK to use a 5w/30 synthetic oil
The ASDA oil meets these requirements
Wish you the best of luck with it.Well as far as I'm consernded and Fiat ACEA C3 is fine for the multijet.
Asda oil meats the spec so I will and have been using it.
What has my Marea got to do with the 500??

The ASDA oil meets these requirements, So I'm agreeing with the fact that it's OK to use the ASDA oil
And I quote
"lubricants with at least ACEA C2" AT LEAST.
"The use of products with features lower than ACEA C2 and ACEA C3 could cause engine damage and are not covered by warranty"
I'm sorry but that's an absolute load of rubbish. there have been countless links which show that a c3 oil does NOT meet the c2 specs......Well for what it's worth I nipped into FIAT today to have a word with their service managerAnyway, he said theres not much difference between C2 & C3 technicaly and that it would be fine to use it but he's not sure if it would affect the warranty. I pointed out that our 500 was out of warranty and that it wouldn't be a problem to which he agreed. I also asked him if it would have any affect on the DPF he said he wouldn't think so but went off and had a word with someone so I went and helped myself to the free coffee. When he came back he said if it did have any affect on the DPF it would only be a positive one as C3 oil is a slightly higher grade than C2 oil but the fact is theirs not much between them and most oils that were classed as C2 also meet the C3 grade and if it meets the C3 grade it has to meet the C2 grade. I also asked him about the Fiat classification on oil. He said not all oil manufacturers are willing to print every individual spec on there bottles and most go with the big Players , Ford, GM etc.
So take from that what you will.
Because one of the links was from ACEA?As I say "take from that what you will"
But what makes the info from the various links provided so reliable??
